Polish, I find it sad you see this as drama. Your comments seem to be very cold w splashes of a black/white personality, I am sure that is not your intention. Life is not black and white, never, ever. I pray nothing like this ever hits close home for you and your loved ones. Oh and guess what, they do wake up one day and decide to commit suicide. It takes everyone in a child’s life to help, yes the parents should have seen the signs, but you are intentionally avoiding and missing the fact that a teacher knew about it and said nothing! You can keep stating your viewpoint but the facts will stand, We are our Brothers Keeper.
It was the schools responsibility to inform the parents of the note. It is also the schools responsibility to let all know when threats are made causing harm and destruction to the building, teachers and students. The parents could have been doing everything in their power, but if the school had reported to superiors they could have had an intervention and admitted the child in a hospital. See, if someone had done something a child may not be dead. Plain and simple the teacher knew about the threat and did nothing, in my opinion this is a classic lousy teacher. Teachers who love their job, love their students would never just sit by and do nothing! Until you have a child w mental handicaps you will never understand. I have seen my friend struggle for many years and it is not easy and very overwhelming.
Polish,... I agree a little w you. But did you miss the part where the note was taken away from students and no one did anything, including not letting the parents know what had taken place? If someone knew this, it is their responsibility take steps to inform parents, teachers and counselors.
It is a sad day when seemingly intelligent leaders of the School District decide for themselves what rules they will and will not abide by. Both knew they could not be married to each other and keep the job which they were performing, one of them was to step out of their current position. I find it impossible to believe no one at the Administrative Office, on the School Board or a teacher did not know they were married, how can you be married 5 years and no one notice? I wonder if we will ever find out who exposed the deceit. This is proof Mishawaka needs Elected Board Members, instead of the Good Ole’ Boys Club, which has been active for many years. You can do what you want, as long as you have the correct last name.

Cpt. Phil Trent is a BIG problem if he feels "Verbal tormenting and teasing is one thing and physical abuse another". Guess what, verbal torment and physical abuse are the same, they have the same result, bruises and broken spirits. The difference, you cannot see the bruises with the human eye, but you can hear the bruises in the child's speech, and you can observe the child's bruises when they are at school. Wake up people, when someone torments, it is just a matter of time before they start physical abuse. It is ignorant people like the Captain Trent and School Administrators, that verbal threats escalate to physical abuse.
