Twenty years ago, driving north on I-95 and then into the Northern Virginia/Maryland area, I was disturbed by the image of minarets rising in the horizon. It is only now that I appreciate the significance of my discomfort.

Billy -- I'm a Virginian, and I'm not happy with only two on the ballot. But, if the boys can't read the rules and get them right, so be it. Virginia won't decide the Republican nominee. Changing the rules after the fact is never the answer.

I think it was traditionally (in England, Wales) related to giving the servants and service workers (e.g., butchers, bakers) a day off after the busy Christmas season, along with "boxes" of gifts.

Ahh, yes. Boxing day! In England, Wales, and some Commonwealth countries, when all of the servants, hired help, and other service workers finally get a day off during the Christmas holiday season. Hey -- that's me (and most mothers)!
