The Atheist Experience blog published Pastor Stahl's email and suggested that atheists who are "out" might want to contact the curdled Rev. so as to be included in his wonderful networking idea...Here's his email: pastorstahl@aol.com... I sent him my name followed by two jokes, three limericks, a recipe for Puttanesca sauce, bunnies, smooches and an open invitation to blog on my blog if he can stand the
Jesus pics I put up... Much manly macho grunting deserves much mirth....Y'all rock! :D, :D, :D!
Cracks? Pat cracks me up! One day I shall scribble down Pat's mostly-not-true biography: Chapter One: "Marion Pat Robertson was the son of a pedophiliac Pentecostal preacher who only had one good arm. His narcoleptic mother owned 80 cats, sucked down cases of Mr. Pibb and regularly passed out in a Percocet haze while watching endless reruns of "Knight Rider". Pat would spend his weekends pouring Jack Daniels into the Coco Puffs and bitching about the government. This wholesome Evangelical family system would one day lead Pat to make creepy death threats against Venezuela's president, Hugo Chavez,as well as Texas
bodybuilders." I'm Pat's biggest fan! My latest post:
La escritora Greta Christina explica el enojo de los ateos
Yes, it is better to be rational. However, many of us who left the fold, ex-believers, ex-cultists, can find at least one issue on the religionist front that still yanks our emotions to the point of extreme rage. Sadly, blind rage only leads to frustration and frustration brings out the WORST in whoever is frustrated. Frustrated babies throw food and make a mess. Frustrated citizens tend to execute kings and queens and make a democracy. Frustrated moths bang up against light fixtures and make them dusty. But unlike babies, citizens and moths, Sky Fairyism is just SO VERY unpleasant to begin with...Aspirational: I try every single day and therapy has helped.
Agreed! Atheists need to ensure representation in the collection through collaboration in the selection process...Librarians need input and yes, it is sad when you walk into a library where materials on science, secular humanism and atheism are dated or gathering dust while the Left Behind series (but not the bible) is cataloged as "Christian Science Fiction" and flies off the shelves hand-in-hand with those creepy "Christian Romance" novels...I constantly tell my students that no matter who you are, no matter where you live, and no matter how many people are chasing you, what you don't read is often as important as what you do read. :D
The news media and fellow atheists are great places to start but I’m going to add one more front which is my pet peeve as a K-12 school librarian: PLEASE check the resources available on atheism in your public library and in your kid’s school to ensure a balanced collection! Last year I was reviewing a database purchased with YOUR tax dollars, World Book Kids, for my school district in Texas. World Book Kids is a wonderful research tool and it has a section on world religions. Atheism was included under “world religions”. When I read the article, I was completely amazed at the fact that atheism was defined throughout the article as a DENIAL and never as a lack of belief. Atheist parents, PLEASE be on the ball and speak up! Librarians rely on cooperation from our patrons, it is never a bother!
On further reflection, I'm ambivalent because one of my favorite atheists on the Internet does post his Christian "love" mail along with names and addresses...You might want to take a peek at Normal Bob Smith, the guy behind the "Jesus Dress Up" site...No, this site does not further the atheist cause but it makes me happier than a gopher in soft dirt because it is hilarious and laughter, like quicksand, usually makes its victims look down...The reams of hate mail plus names and replies are posted on the right hand side of the page... :D

It's the adrenalin rush...Some of us thrive on our outsider status. I grew up in a very conservative, hyper-Catholic family in Mexico City. I enjoyed being the live wire who hissed, stomped and argued with the Catholic nuns at school. My parents warned me that if I didn't accept the rules of a Catholic society, I'd end up as a "solterona", an old maid, because young ladies who neither respect the FAITH nor brush their hair, reach the end of the road as whores, artists or Marxists. Contrarian to the core, my choice was obvious: I took up painting, stiletto heels, AND joined the Mexican Socialist Party! Crazy times! :D
I vote no. If you listen to Christian talk radio as much as I do, you'll notice that these nutjobs crave attention because of an insufferable Messiah complex...Many of them put shame aside when it comes to attacking non-believers and would love receiving credit for their rants...They see themselves as martyrs as per Matthew 5:11, "Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake." Don't give them the satisfaction.

Constructive criticism: I checked out your blog and it gave me a headache! The Spanish translation is just awful. If you want to evangelize a Spanish-speaking audience, refer them to Luis Palau...I'm an atheist but I'd help you clean up the Spanish any day because I'm not afraid of ideas. Good luck with your blog! __Peace, :-)
