I'm sorry, I got so busy before the exhibition I forgot to post about it even on my own blog! well i hope i didn't ramble too much. in fact, i wish i could go in there and edit some of my words. will post very soon about new fantastic website.

oh, and i forgot to mention the organic quality to them was something which also struck me, and gave them a lot of depth and texture. the raw canvas seems to really help this. i also think campbell's work has this quality, and it's something i like about both his and liz's work (sorry, just lumping it all together now - i suppose i should've written about this under campbell's exhibition posts too, but not much point writing it twice!)

i'm pretty un-biased and educationally qualified (kinda!) and i thought the show was great. i love the crossover between figurative and imaginatory, and the juxtaposition of really highly worked and finished bits with looser, more suggestive parts. i loved all the swooping lines in some of the figures, and the feathery areas in some of the others. the paintings are not only beautiful to look at, but hold a conceptual element too.. so they hold a lot of interest for me. it was a lovely afternoon, and they looked great in the gallery.
