Thugs will be what thugs will be!
People with nothing have nothing to lose. It is proven just about everyday through the list of folks arrested. For those that us that actually have something, it would be a huge risk to share our true feelings on this site. I do feel that KCRG censors what is said in these forums already, and they feel that by doing it through facebook that it will self censor. KCRG will be successful in shutting down these forums.
With this, many of the real challenges in the community will never come out. I have already dropped our Gazette subscription, and watch the other news as much as I watch KCRG. This may just be the nail in the coffin.
How can deadbeats like this even plead not guilty. I think they are taking advice from sc um bag lawyers. How much money will this waste of skin cost us taxpayers?
I would say that his "consulting" consists of using his government contacts to try to persuade them to give breaks to renewable energy companies. His talk of coming back into politics is a ploy to make these folks think that he will have the clout someday to give them what they want, if they hire him now. I cannot imagine, with his track record, that he would be re-elected to anything. Appointed, maybe, but never elected.
KCRG is making news again, instead of just reporting the facts.
I do not think that there are any great reasons to replace the dam, unless all of the landowners get together an purchase an insurance policy for all damages and cleanup next time it happens. I am tired of tax dollars just going to help the rich. Most of these places are second homes, give me a break.
There is soooo much waste in the state universitiy's. Put a businessperson in charge to make real decisions and the education would be better while costing less. Way, way too much waste.
Exactly where in the ballot language did it say that renters could get money from LOST funds?
The $10,000 given to renters was not what we had voted on. Not a bad program, but it was not what was voted on.
Sales tax was 5% and then we had a local option tax of 1%. Since most counties in Iowa added the 1%, the 1% was just added to the sales tax to make it 6% and the local tax was dropped. Sounds simple, right? The reason that they added it to the state sales tax is that by law, there can only be one option tax at any given time. I can see in just a few years, this 1% option tax going into the state sales tax (making it 8%), and then another group wanting to fund something by a new 1% option tax. I can see the writing on the wall. I do not like it at all.
