I knew you would read this post and I consciously put that tidbit in there just for you. :-)

Thanks, Justin. It's amazing to me just how different you can feel after changing your diet. I used to eat junk food with impunity. Now I can't even look at a Whopper without going woozy.

Thanks, man. I appreciate that. Tomorrow's another day, just taking a while to get to it.

Good points. I really wanted to be lost in the fantasy of it too and for much of it I was, but I understood they were also going for believable so I found myself running certain scenes through that filter. I also like the way Pa Kent went out. Even in that there was a selflessness he demonstrated as an example to Clark. Pa Kent caught a lot of flack for his maybe letting the school kids die, but when you put yourself in his shoes it's hard to believe you wouldn't be as conflicted. Based on his character as a whole, Jonathan Kent was superbly portrayed.

Overall I did like the direction and feel of the movie. I'm really an easy guy to please, but if they could've changed that one moment with Zod I would've liked the movie more. Ironically, (and this is something else I struggle with as I think about Man of Steel's ending) Superman kills Zod in Superman 2 when he throws him into the abyss at the Fortress of Solitude. I'm torn. Maybe killing Zod will be a defining moment in Superman's journey that causes him to resolve to never kill again in the next movie. I don't know. Guess we'll find out.

Like you my hope is that killing Zod is that defining moment too. I really, really hope so. You excellently summarize how Grant Morrison make Superman a much more complex and interesting character. What I'm thoroughly baffled by is that someone at DC signed off on Man of Steel's ending. Even Christopher Nolan was against it from what I've read! The sequel is already fast tracked so maybe there will be enough backlash to change the direction. It could've been a really great film. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well these days.

I sure hope that's the case. I know I sound harsh but the movie wasn't all bad, it just wasn't all good.
