I love that idea Lucyourdog!! What about Dream Home Remake, Buy a older home in an nice existing area of a town, that is coming back to life. I have a few in mind that need to be gutted and redone. They are large homes that just need love, attention and lots of new appliances. I love the Dream Homes but you are right, we need something we can afford to keep.
The only way I will ever own a home is if I win it, so here's to dreaming. :)
