I read in the article that the car was sent in for analysis, and that the fuse for the automatic door lock was bad, which means that when the handler locked the doors, they didn't actually lock. I suppose you could blame the handler for not inspecting the doors to make sure they actually locked after he hit the lock button, but really? You can blame the mechanics at the motor pool for failing to maintain the door locks, but really? You could blame either the handler or the department for failing to train the dog for not responding to children who are potentially aggressively teasing it, but really? Maybe you should blame the child who opened the door and let the dog out. Really.

Glad to see this story. A couple of thoughts occur to me though. First, I hope the bart owner hadn't been drinking and carrying that firearm. I'm all for his right to carry, but only if he's stone cold sober. IMHO, if he had any alcohol on board, he should lose that right, regardless of the outcome of this incident. Two, where was he aiming? A "shoot to stop" shot would best be the central chest area (large, easy target) or the head (small, more difficult, but more effective). If he was aiming for the leg, bad move because the hand with the gun can still shoot back. Regardless, this particular story ended well, which is bad guy didn't hurt anyone and is in custody. Kudos, bar owner. I just hope you don't drink and carry.

I'd like to see them try to occupy any of the suburban municipalities around Portland and see how far they get. They've used up even their liberal Portland welcome now. Though the message, and "general assemblies" will no doubt continue (and lots of people probably agree with the general principal), the driving point behind "Occupy"--the so-called occupation--is permanently over. Gently smashed, if you will pardon the oxymoron. If even the liberal Portland won't tolerate it anymore, where do they think they can go?

Drunk loudly proclaims in a bar, "All lawyers are a$$ho..s!
Another drunk says, "I heard what you said, and I take offense to it!"
1st drunk, "Why? Are you a lawyer?"
2nd drunk, "No! I'm an a$$ho..!"

National Guard?? Why? Just allow the police to do what they're trained to do. National Guard, really? You don't think the police can handle it? It wouldn't matter if it were MMA fighters vs police, let alone hippies. The cops will ultimately do what they have to do, use what they have to use, and let the chips fall where they may. But you have a point, they can still brain cops with stakes and nails, or even just rocks, but that's not their biggest problem. Their biggest problem will be the exposure to MRSA, scabies, fleas, crabs, Hepatitis, HIV, biting, feces, vomit, needles, etc as they move through District 9. You couldn't pay me triple time to enter that camp, but I'd happily arrest those...folks... for free under other circumstances.

Are you really going to eliminate the entire District 9 because of a few bad prawns? Come on, it's just a few grenades, needles, violent crimes, vermin infestations, infectious disease outbreaks and the like. Give 'em a break, people. We must think of the children living there. How else will they learn how to change the system?

Right on, Nordstrom! This is the best thing to hit Christmas shopping since Macy's hired Kris Kringle to tell their shoppers where the better deals are. Methinks the end result will be the same, too. Well done!

It's probably less stressful if you're negotiating with a dead guy.
