I'd like to believe it'll be a live reveal but I'm doubting it.
I -really- loved it when they did the ambush live on TV. That was always so much more exciting, I could never change the channel, not even during commercials. How they slowly snuck up to the house, giving hints about where they were, showing little bits of the surrounding area.
I can only hope they go back to that type of ambush eventually.

Exactly, you got it. :) There's no dead set rule it has to be right on the 12th. Could have already happened, might yet happen. We'll only know for 100% on the 17th...ooor if a nosy neighbor leaks it again this year. ^.^;

To those who keep saying the winner has been picked/contacted/ambushed, back up with facts, links or basically anything to prove it's not just you being bummed. You know the old adage "Photos or it didn't happen", on here it's "Links or it didn't happen". :)

Aw, there's always the Blog Cabin on DIY, Green Home and Urban Oasis this year too. Plenty of chances to enter and dream. :D As long as you keep at it, you have just as much of a chance as anyone else. Never give up hope!

o.o Dude, it's a free house, money and a car. (Yes, there are taxes, but still, you did not pay to enter the contest. So, free.) If you win and don't want it, I will GLADLY deal with the taxes. ;P Heh.
Also, some of the people that didn't move into the house, they usually used the money to make their lives better.
Gotta take the good, with the bad. :)
(Also if I misinterpreted that in any way, my apologies. ^.^; Sometimes stuff gets lost in translation over the internet, ya know how it is.)

However, the winner has not been announced, so only HGTV knows who they are. According to the rules, on or around the 12th (today), the winner will be notified in an ambush style event, to be televised on the 17th.

I'd definitely take the money, not that I don't want the house or even like where I live now. I just know I would not be financially able to keep paying the bills and the taxes that come with such a house. I'd take the money, and buy a house.
I think about that a lot myself too, and, trust me, I don't think you're a downer at all. Being a dreamer is important but, being a realist especially with something like this is just as important.
No matter what a person's situation, I harp on this but really, the winner should definitely consult a lawyer and a financial adviser.

Well actually they -have- picked the winner, the drawing and everything, remember? They just may or may not have ambushed them yet. So, never know.
