While reading 1984, I found this gem in chapter one, Ignorance is Peace, of Goldstein's Book.
"The new aristocracy was made up for the most part by bureaucrats, scientists, technicians, trade-union organizers, publicity experts, sociologists, teachers, journalists, and professional politicians."
Looking at the world of 1984, this passage, and today's people in power, I have no choice but to be frightened for my freedom.

Today, because of April Fool's, I told everybody I knew that Barack Obama was pressuring America to join the E.U.
I don't know why, but it was scary when everyone said that they figured he would eventually do that.
