That fits the pattern I see across the forums and in the shops. The real objection is the cost. The other complaints are just quibbles to justify the dislike. It's of a piece with people who dismiss Battlefoam because of the cost saying they can do better, cheaper. They can do do cheaper easily enough, but they can't do better with their plastic totes and foam peanuts. They're usually in the income bracket where time is more plentiful than money so they do what works for them. Which, of course, is fine. I just find the baseless attacks on the products annoying.

Having used the program for 3 years now I am convinced there is no text-entry-based way to make a list that is faster or more accurate than Army Builder.

He made a hash of the nids. That's what started the hate on him. Well, apart from a few older guard players who didn't like how he redid the book.

I think you really ought to at least give it a try. The trial version only allows you to select 3 units, but you can get a feel for it. The output is fully customizable to show as much or as little info as you want. They have a minimalist output specifically designed for tournaments. You can out put lists as xml and import into Battle Chronicler for battle reports.

Army Builder is the single best purchase I've made for my 40k hobby. The actual data file bugs are really rare for a volunteer effort and they make regular releases to squash the bugs. Anyone can register and report bugs they find. Most things that get reported as bugs are really functional preferences about how upgrade characters or unique models get added to squads.

I wouldn't sweat it. From all the reports I've seen the regular, non-internet nobility participants all had a grand time. This kind of drama gets magnified after the event to the point that it seems to drown out all the good stuff that happened. Don't let it dissuade you from attending. You don't have to be a part of the drama.

I hadn't seen that term before either, but what he means is the checkerboard intermixing of units so that the simultaneously provide each other with cover.

Someone start a petition to change Dash's handle from Dashofpepper to Dashofdrama.

I know correlation is not causation, but there a definite relationship between Dash and drama. Wherever Dash plays there's drama of one sort or another. Drama follows in his wake on forums and blogs. I don't know that anyone can pin down the precise causes, but I can't shake the feeling that there's something inherent in Dash that generates this stuff.

Glad to see a list without Tervigons.

It's an interesting list and one I might be tempted to try out if I had more genestealers. I think it's a little light on synapse even with all the stealers though.
