When Splatoon was first announced, I was hoping that Nintendo would showcase the game the same way they did Smash during its Invitational @ E3 2014. Since Splatoon is coming in May, E3 2015 is not a good time anymore. I hope Splatoon does show up at apex 2015. The Invitational for Smash really made people excited leading up to its release.

I wonder if Nintendo's E3 Treehouse streaming had anything to do with this sudden change...

1080p & 60 fps? Wow! People keep nitpicking about resolutions, simply to have cleaner looking graphics. However, Smash Bros U is one of the few games which can justify the need for these higher resolutions through game mechanics. These higher resolutions let you more clearly see what's happening in another area when the camera is pulled back far away.

Man, this is like a mini-E3 on Friday. Some games I want to see more of are Xenoblade X, SMTxFE, and Devil's Third. I'm also glad that Fantasy Life is guaranteed to be there. I'm planning on getting that game when it comes out.

Hey, that's great! With these techniques in place, we can see more RPGs coming from Monolith Soft. I hope to see Monolith take the place Square Enix used to occupy before the PS2 era.

Well, Capcom's well under way to repeating the 7th gen in the 8th. In the 7th gen, Capcom really fell from grace. They alienated their fans with things like DmC Devil May Cry, "going shooter" w/later Resident Evils, and the whole Megaman fiasco. All that culminated with the $150M danger line that Monster Hunter 4 pulled them away from.

This gen, they alienated Breath of Fire fans w/BoF6 on mobile. Now, they're alienating the Nintendo side of the RE fan base. Capcom just wants to destroy itself, doesn't it? Capcom can't keep relying on the newest Monster Hunter to bail them out when they get close to the danger line. They'd better stop alienating their fans because there won't be any left at this rate. Once all the fans are gone, who will care if Capcom disappears?

My thoughts on how the crash will happen basically mirrors yours, a death spiral of the 3rds and Sony/MS taking each other down.

Nintendo won't refuse the 3rds coming to their consoles. The problem I foresee is not that they burnt bridges with Nintendo, but that they burnt bridges with the Nintendo *fan base*. Will the fan base buy their games if they suddenly put them on Nintendo's consoles?

If they don't sell, they'll have to figure out what's wrong and fix it. They'll need time to do that and build up to success. However, I believe the 3rds will likely go to Nintendo only if they are suffering from dire financial problems. By then it may be too late.

Yes! I'm glad Monolith is taking the initiative to fix that. I'm a WoW player so I'm kinda of used to WoW's improved quest system. Xenoblade's quest system was one of the few flaws the game had.

The way you and Aiddon describe the "hardcore" is that they are basically elitists. By nature, elitists are exclusionary, always weeding people out who are "not good enough." They always think they are better than you. It is a very arrogant attitude to take and a disgusting one too.

I'm of the opinion that Nintendo should make it a point to be as inclusive as possible with its game design. Omninaut's point about creating genre entry points is valid and I feel, very vital to Nintendo's success. Not just genre entry points, but entry points to gaming as a whole are very important. I see Splatoon and Mario Kart as examples of these types of games and hope Nintendo keeps this in mind in their future releases.

Ouch, and I actually like the Infamous series too. If Sony keeps this up, how are they going to get Infamous 4 out? Will Sony even have a 1st party presence at all at this rate?
