You can disagree on policy, but the argument that everyone left of you is actively trying to destroy America... that's freakin stupid.
I mean really stupid.
More stupid than Carter saying everyone on the right is racist.

Joe Wilson is wrong (and crude).
Check the senate finance committee bill and then cross-reference with what Obama actually said.

The truth is not that Obama's spending already exceeds all prior deficits, but that he proposes to spend more than all prior deficits over the next ten years.
That's a significant difference... a 10 year projection is not equivalent to the 9 months he's been in office.
Take note, though, that I'm not defending his deficit spending, I absolutely think our government's fiscal condition is a huge problem.
As for Bush being criticized for his massive deficits... yes, some Republicans did complain, to their credit.
However, he was certainly not 'roundly' criticized by the majority of Republican lawmakers or voters.
You're kidding yourself if you think that the criticism of Bush's spending over eight years was nearly as intense as the criticism of Obama's spending over the past nine months.
This isn't a problem just with Democrats.
BOTH parties grow the size of government.
Even Reagan, all he did was slow down the growth of government, he certainly didn't reduce the size.
But the longer the majority of the right blames the left for spending, the longer this will be a problem... both left and right need to take a unified stand against unchecked government growth for anything to change.
That's what bothers me about the viciousness of our partisan debate (again, both left and right are at fault): the more divided we are, the less we accomplish.

(See 18 USC 2331.)
Key word: violence.
So how does the reconciliation tactic equate to violence?
The fact is, it doesn't... calling reconciliation an act of terrorism is as valid as calling it a hamburger.
I think you're full of it.

Actually getting results from drilling takes years and years as well.
But even if drilling will take less time than a significant shift to alternative energy, that doesn't change the fact that fossil fuels are completely unsustainable in the long term.
In fact, if a complete shift to alternative energy will, as you say, take decades, doesn't that mean we should get really serious about it ASAP?
I also think that a properly funded alternative energy initiative would create far more jobs than opening up a few more spots for drilling, simply because there is a vast amount of work to be done if this country is ever going to get off oil.

You'd be amazed at the amount of media bull you can cut through by regularly doing these things yourself instead of relying on some pundit to do them for you.
But I did say "specifically" and you weren't specific.
Please tell me... what change is Obama using terror to force on Americans that a majority of the country doesn't want?

The only place where America is at war with Obama is in your head.
People say a lot of stupid things in comments, fantum, but you really impress me with your level of ignorance.

It's amazing how the comments to every single Drudge-linked news story, almost no matter what the subject, turns into an Obama-bashing frenzy.
Take this news story, for example... instead of showing the world that America stands unified against terrorism, people are taking the opportunity to join the mass murderer in insulting the President.
However, I think racism is only a part of it, and not the main part.
Our country has a hysterical phobia of anything that can be called socialism or communism, even when those terms don't apply to the facts.
Right wing politicians and media selectively use those terms to agitate their supporters whenever they encounter policies they want to deflate.
Case in point: No one yelled "Socialism!" when Bush vastly enlarged the military and domestic security apparatus in the largest government expansion since FDR.
But when a Democrat proposes a watered-down public option in health care that won't eliminate private insurance... why, suddenly people think we've been teleported to Stalinist Russia.
It's incredible how manipulable people really are.

You believe anyone who doesn't agree with your politics is an enemy of America.
Therefore, because liberals don't agree with your politics, they must all be enemies of America.
I hope I'm wrong about this because it would be an idiotic mindset for you to have.
Then again, a blanket assertion about all liberals always supporting "the enemies of America" suggests a weak grasp of reality...
