'The Dark Defiance' is out. I've also released a short novella, 'Orbital Decay', that expands on a discovery made in 'Dark Defiance'. It's kind of unorthodox but I wanted the characters in the third, full size installment to have a new challenge to deal with as they push their way into Dactari territory.

I would definitely be interested in hearing your opinion.

That certainly is convoluted! I can't trace it backwards to figure out how it all worked. Are you talking about 61 A.D. by David McAfee? That looks like an interesting read - I think I'll pick it up. I'm not a Brit, but I am a loyal subject from the other side of the pond. When we join the military over here, we still swear an oath to the Queen and all her heirs.

The next story (book two) takes place roughly a decade after the war and it includes a captured alien medical officer. The third book is where we start to visit the heartland of the Dactari Republic. That story is still in the late stages of the outlining phase so I wouldn't dare to even ballpark a release date.

I like your idea about exploring their past involvement with humanity. Perhaps I should put some thought into a short story, set during their earliest contact.

I've been a little lax in communicating plans lately. I'm close to finishing the first draft of the sequel to The Black Ships. I'll need another month for revision and first edit before it goes out to beta readers. I hope to have it ready by mid August.
