The Onion once did this satirical (obviously) story about a poor, poor athlete convicted of rape and how hard it was on him and his courageous struggle to Overcome Adversity. I couldn't find it funny because it read like something a newspaper would actually write!

Yep, the sexual dynamics were definitely pre-21st century. And I remember, when it aired, a male friend of mine squicking over the female host kissing Crusher's hand - that was too gay for him. There's also the issue of the ambassador using Riker's body for sex and whether he would have been okay with that (he would have, it's Riker, but the point is he didn't ASK.)
