"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

This is the text of the first amendment. No matter if we disagree with the message of the protest or not, the right to assemble is granted to us by our Creator and the Constitution. What offends me most in this story is the fact that a county government has the gall to ban standing protests.

It is my utmost hope that eventually we will get past the "Us vs Them" mentality that is our bane. If I may quote Glenn Beck, "It is not about Right vs Left, it's about Right vs Wrong." Eventually, we will realize that it is not who is in government that is the problem, but that our government itself is the problem.

"A 26-year-old doctor who exposed the torture of jailed protesters in Iran died of poisoning from a delivery salad laced with an overdose of blood pressure medication... Investigators are still trying to determine whether his death last month was a suicide or murder..."

Suicide by salad. Classic.

I am severely disappointed in the lack of support for Rep. Joe Wilson. This man has finally said the emperor has no clothes. Furthermore, he has done it live, in a public forum for all to see. What is the result? He is scolded like child for his poor manners. To hell with manners. The man spoke his mind; he spoke our minds - he did his job! The last thing this man deserves is condemnation, especially from the likes of Pelosi and McCain.

Rasmussen reported Aug. 21 that nearly half of Americans wish to opt out of Social Security. This information, however, did not make the national news; go figure. For those of you who have a desire for truth, I have provided a link to the report:

Big headline on Drudge - POLL: 75% OF TEXANS WOULD VOTE TO STAY IN USA...

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.5 % points @ 95% confidence. That's a sample of 500 people. It is not exactly a compelling poll when the population of Texas is around 25 Million. Ahh... the joy of statistics.
