This is economics for the crazies. A monopoly only serves to put pricing power in the hands of a sole supplier without the restraining power of competition. The supplier in this case sounds like a middleman rather than a bona fide supplier of goods. This is the type of thinking that creates the market distortions we have in Malaysia.
Apart from the silliness of Amir Bahari's resolution, he has also shown what an ignoramus he is when he says all major religions prohibit the consumption of alcohol. The offering of wine is an integral part of the Catholic mass that is steeped in more than 2000 years of culture and tradition. Alcohol is also common in the rituals of other religions. His colleagues in the Bar should no longer address him as "my learned friend..."
Bravo, Yoke Nam school management, teachers, parents and their football team! And kudos to Coach Azmeel for his faith in the impossible dream...and his implausible team.
Their commitment is also due to their fathers' being signatories to the original Malaysia agreement, How so? This is a non sequitur if ever there was one.
The Prime Minister's silence on this issue is deafening and suggests he is tone deaf to such offensive behavior by members of his cabinet. Surely it behooves him as a leader to put a lid on this nasty affair and establish minimum standards of decorum for BN ministers. It embarrasses us as Malaysians to hear others snicker about our classless, low brow politicians.
Seems like a double standard here - has the UMNO Sec Gen condemned the deputy minister's foul, sexually laced comment on the MP for Seputeh? The tone of Khalid's comment was rather mild in comparison. Perhaps it will do Ku Nan some good to look in the mirror once in a while...
Ronald Kiandee brings the speaksr's role into grave disrepute. He has no understanding of the semantics and syntax of the minister''s embarrassingly crude, insulting, low brow attack on the MP for Seputeh. The standard of parliamentary discourse in our country has reached a new low.
Let me add another example of the silliness of product naming. Feeling a little nostalgic the other day, I went in search of a soft drink from my childhood - a Ginger Beer by F&N. I searched the supermarket shelves but no ginger beer. Then I caught sight of F&N's "Gingerade". Now I'm confused...
Bravo, Datu Seri Nazri! Finally a sensible comment by a senior government figure on this silly affair. The world is laughing at us every time some official zealot goes off the rails in such petty matters.
Maybe the request did not reach the MB But the minister is surely aware that in our country, our vaunted leaders often surround themselves with "gate keepers" of their own choice whose motives are less than pure. This makes for convoluted communications even on mundane matters. The rakyat almost never have direct access to the top leadership who are aloof from the ordinary man. But now we all know Azizul is no ordinary man.. Well done Azizul, your complaint has struck a chord that is familiar to most Malaysians. May your cycling career reach even greater heights!
