Scary situation. Glad my brother got moved out of there over a year ago after being there so long. These patients are basically just given their meds and they wander about all day long. When it comes to mental illness it's a hit-and-miss proposition really. The Dr's try this or that medication or a combo based on textbook knowledge but every brain is different. Then again one has to wonder with the budget cuts if the patients are getting all the meds they need anyway!
My brother lived there for 19 years! I have paid many visits to Western State and yes, it is a tough place to work. Mental illness is tragic for the individual who has it and for the family members as well. No easy answers here.
This is a tragedy. It is very sad the innocent boys' lives were lost in all this. There is a little comfort in knowing now the boys won't be growing up with all the emotional baggage of such a messed up, twisted family! RIP little boys, you are safe in Heaven now.
My favorite TV show growing up. Never missed it. James Arness was a class act and he will be missed.
The media needs to shut him down/leave him alone but that won't happen.
ABC (Good Morning America) and NBC (Today show) you are just as bad as Charlie Sheen! You are both fighting over who gets to cover this messed up character! No network should give this guy the time of day! It is only fueling his fire!
Can't she come up with something original to name her books?
This group was 300 yards to the right. They were on a hill. The cave collapsed and rolled on them.
Your group was probably in the safer main area, that is flat.
I was at the Big 4 ice caves the day before the accident. I have a picture of a cave in area where they were. This was not the area where everyone goes, it was a small cave to the side 300 yards away. This area is on a hill so when the cave collapsed the pieces rolled on to them. This would not have happened in the main area because it is on flat ground. I would say it is safest to go to the main area and keep you distance. This is a beautiful area don't let this keep you from enjoying it.
