Thanks for a great post Stephen. I can often be frustrated at my lack of growth (or what I think is lack, often times it's there it's just a slow process and i want to change overnight). Yesterday Tim Kerr spoke at my church. He spoke on prayer and praying for the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. <a href="http://(http://www.covlife.org/resources/3764465-The_Prayer_for_Power)" target="_blank">(http://www.covlife.org/resources/3764465-The_Prayer_for_Power) One of the best messages on prayer I've ever heard.

As I was reading your post I was thinking how part of faithfulness for the Christian is to pray for God to work the growth in our lives. The more we want growth, the more desperate and passionately we should pray for it.

It constantly amazes me how I forget that legalism is a sin. So in my attempt to earn God's favor for my sin, I'm just sinning more. And then I remember that I'm sinning and I'm freshly aware of how AWESOME and free His grace is! What a merciful and gracious God.

Stephen,

Wow. This is really good. A powerful reminder of how terrible my legalism truly is. So grateful that my attempts to earn God's favor are covered by His blood! What an awesome God we serve!

Nothing takes away my breath and fills me with awe like the night sky on a clear, crisp evening. One of my favorite parts of the day is to take our dog out right before I go to bed. It's a last minute reminder that no matter what happened during the day, the awesome Creator who created the stars and planets (and keeps them in orbit) is the Creator and Redeemer who is in control of my life. As I look up, I am put in my place as the creature and stand in awe of how big and powerful my God is. It's a reminder to trust and a reminder of just how great my God is!

Stephen, that's so true. The Holy Spirit has been convicting me of this of late. I'm created to glorify God. I'm on this earth to point others to Him. Not to get what I want or gratify my own desires or dreams. I'm hear for Him.

It was so much fun, I really don't think it counts as serving. :)
