Engineers are my favorite men. I discovered this through a string of dating and being attracted to multiple engineers. Their logic balances out my idealism; their slight introversion balances out my (sometimes wild) extroversion. In general, I'm smitten, and so are they. I have nothing to add to this list, which is a fun one, except to say that when you *do* meet an extroverted engineer ... you're in trouble. :)

Happy Valentine's Day, Miss Alpha!

And ... I love you. Apparently, Hippest Snippets loved both of us enough to excerpt this and the latest post on my blog, "National Coming Out Day: A celebration of love" (visit my site if you want to read it). So I raise my glass to you, Pajamas and Coffee, for being so amazingly intolerant. Here's to the two of us intolerant girls. ;)

Wow, you weren't kidding! :)

NICE post. Let me store it into the back of my head for a future post on this. :)

Miss Alpha,

Great minds must think alike! I recently paused a relationship with someone because he broke the first two tips you've listed here (he was overbearing and complimented me only on my looks) and it was a buzz-killer so I took a break. I found your post the same day and linked to it here: http://winkwinkwink.wordpress.com/2010/05/14/when...

Miss Alpha, I've always liked your style. You shoot straight from the hip. Keep it up, girl.

BTW, it seems like everyone is writing a breakup post these days and I've been percolating one for a while now...check over on my blog in the next few days. :)

Happy Friday!

I didn't think so, but one of the labels was "Break-Ups" so I wasn't sure.

Hmm, Miss Alpha, is this a break-up? Need it be? I'm following this situation really carefully, and I have to say, I understand the desire to have lust but also, this Engineer sounds AWESOME (I love engineers too, btw) and he's really there for you, really willing to do what it takes. That's rare and sweet and beautiful. Is there something about the connection there that you aren't feeling that you can tell him about, like what it would take to make you feel that lusty, take-me-now feeling with him? I'd just tell him what he needs to do. He'll do it.

Then again, is it possible you're feeling more for the ex, the Psychologist, and you're confused about that situation? In that case, maybe some time apart from Brontosaurus Guy will help you see how you feel about both of them? Good luck. I'll be thinking about you.

Wow, Miss Alpha, I have been in this situation time and time again. My gut feeling is that if this Brontosaurus Guy (hmm, I like that title) and you are really good together, that chemistry you're feeling with the Thigh Guy (again, I like that title) will fade away when the "purer" chemistry with Brontosaurus emerges. Honestly, it's really normal to be wildly attracted to someone who isn't always the best for you, and to be a little more moderately (although occasionally just as wildly) attracted to someone who really is right for you. My biggest reaction to Thigh Guy is that if he really wanted you and wanted a relationship with you, he would have pursued you like there was no tomorrow. But he didn't! He sounds a little wild all around while Brontosaurus Guy is definitely more centered, sounds more sure of what he wants. If a guy wants you, he'll pursue. The only guy who seems to like you, cause you to feel butterflies AND pursue you is (you guessed it) Brontosaurus Guy. So, since you're still feeling passionately about Thigh Guy, note those feelings but maybe put them away, much like you would about the desire to have a fourth serving of chocolate ice cream; fun for the time being but much more difficult to get rid of later on.
