If you decide the charity is a croc, you can decide to not write them another check. (That's why my sister doesn't contribute to St. Jude's anymore; they've spent more than the money she gave them on harassing her to donate even more, rather than using it for the hospital.) I never voted for SSC, and I don't have a choice about paying in to it. I hate slavebelt legislation; I was never allowed to vote about it, or even been able to figure out how my representative(s) stood on the subject until they voted against freedom. And if you read the stuff Senator Obama talked about, you'd be hard-pressed to believe President Obama is the same person (not that I would have voted for the guy, anyway). So how can I be responsible for things that happened before I was born, by people I voted against, and by people whose stance on matters important to me I can't determine?

Getting rid of the incumbents doesn't do anything, because their party will just cough up another indoctrinated the same way. The Government wouldn't be what it is if it weren't for Demopublicans grooming the next generation to be the same fat-cat power-mongers as they've been. If you REALLY want to fix Washington, you can't be Red OR Blue.

Even if you're "tax exempt" (like me) they STILL take out FICA and Medicare.
Oh, and how much did the first SSC recipients put in? None! It ain't "your" money. It's a TAX government puts on you with the promise that they'll TAX the next generation enough to pay back what they took from you. Always assuming, of course, that they don't "borrow" the money for some other program and then not be able to pay it back.
