Thoughtful point. Not sure if you'd like this, but it reminded me of something written a long time ago. Our ability to grasp new ideas is severely limited by what we learned in the past. You will find the specific quote in the introduction to the book by Keynes outlining his General Theory...You could say events since then justified Keynes in that respect at least.
