it's true, you should definitely plant things you enjoy eating, otherwise you run a high risk of abandoning the whole project altogether. this year I'm growing basil and mint. not exactly serious stuff, but it's my first year gardening and i'm very excited. plus, I'm in need of basil all summer long with the light, fresh dishes I like to cook. I recently wrote a piece on grafted salad trees, which are convenient for people to grow multiple fruits on one tree if they live in more condensed city centers. http://veggietestkitchen.com/savoring-grafted-salad-trees/
Cheers!
ironic i just found this post today. i just went on a shopping bender this afternoon. bought a suit at Theory for 140 bucks, a crazy steal. and it's a thicker blend for the winter. i love their suits. now that i'm unemployed i have the time to find deals!!! found a pair of ferragamo work pumps for around 150 bucks also but didn't buy them. waiting for some kind of offer to go nuts. but when i'm working i never have the time to shop around and all the apparel regrets i've ever had were about not buying something awesome. it's good to stock up when you get the bug and are lucky enough to find deals!
I love Irish soda bread. It's so easy to make, and no yeast required. I made my first loaf (it was so exciting to see a real piece of artisinal looking bread come out of the oven) in December and recently made an olive version. Check it out: http://veggietestkitchen.com/irish-soda-bread/
Happy St. Patty's everyone!
I love to stick spinach and broccoli into my soups or sauces. I just turn the immersion blender on them to make creamy alfredos like the one I did here: http://veggietestkitchen.com/broccoli-alfredo/
I'd love to know about which nutrients we need to get everyday and how often. It's pretty overwhelming keeping track of each additional one. meal planning tips to maintain a well balanced diet would be much appreciated. http://veggietestkitchen.com
I make a mean vegan chili. It's all I need really, and I stock it heartily in the freezer so that it's really easy to cook a homemade meal on weeknights.
Great idea!! I'd love to do a vegan/vegetarian show ;) In the meantime, there are definitely a lot of resources available on the net to give great tips and ideas (like my website!). At the end of the day television is all about entertainment and the personalities. People don't really use it as a resource as they would a cookbook or a recipe blog.
What a cute get together. That would be a great idea for a board game night! The crostini bar idea is awesome. Very good for when people have allergies as you mentioned. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
