Spent the day repotting tomatoes, peppers, herbs, etc. from the back deck to move to the front porch before tonight's frost. Always hate to take the garden down for the season --- miss having a place to be able to make a sunroom or lean-to greenhouse and keep the fresh stuff going for the winter. But the front porch smells like heavenly basil for now and will until the first couple of hard freezes.
Just realized another reason there was likely so much activity in Black Mountain yesterday --- aside from the gorgeous weather --- was probably the annual LEAF festival: http://www.citizen-times.com/picture-gallery/ente...
And then I got to reading about an Asheville couple who traveled to one of Asheville's "sister" cities --- Saumur, France --- http://www.citizen-times.com/story/life/2015/10/1...
Since I was born in Paris, I took 5 years of French in school, thinking I'd go back some day to visit. Haven't made it yet, but this sounds like it would be a lovely side trip!

New to me --- have previously just entered and gone back to running in all my usual circles. But I live nearby and originally moved here to be close to Asheville and couldn't find a rental place there that would work for elder care and the collective animals. Years later, Mom is now in skilled nursing, the "zoo" has thinned somewhat by attrition, I've finished a college degree and made a number of community connections, and expect to stay in the area rather than returning to Santa Fe. So now I'm due to pick up the pieces of my life and start fresh in the area. It has been fun to focus on this place, share information with the other bloggers, and build out the plans and dreams a bit more specifically --- think about how I would translate my work there and who I would reconnect with and so on. Vision boarding plus verbalizing ;-)

Didn't quite make it into Asheville today, but I did make a run "over-mountain" ---as they say around here --- to Black Mountain, which is the first time I've been that far solo in a long time. Beautiful and sunny after a couple of weeks of rain, so lots of people out and about enjoying it, and a lot of active spots for coffee al fresco or a laid-back dinner obviously busy. I donated an old PC at the Goodwill shop, then went to Hopey's for some organic produce --- they're in Asheville also: http://hopeyandcompany.com/
