Love this Sara! You expressed everything so eloquently. I felt as if I was reading my own story.

I love the way you broke down and explained "how you handle it." I guess I figured that out too at some point, and was always shocked when my partner (s) actually understood how and why to talk it through with me, and still cared in the end. They didn't run away. It was this huge revelation that I didn't have to feel ashamed about being emotional. There really is a lot of shame around expressing jealousy---or any negative emotion, depending on the person and context---isn't there?

It was also such a relief to figure out how I could approach this emotion in an appropriate way, instead of reacting passive-aggressively, or just generally getting snarly and not talking about it, as I have done in past relationships. A lot of people don't understand this beauty of open relationships, and to be honest I'd kind of forgotten. Thank you for reminding me and sharing with us all.

I completely agree. There is so much to talk about with this and I think it's important to keep in the forefront. This site scared me because it was developing into something of a space for group bullying. It existed as an acceptable public venue for fat shaming. Thanks for commenting. - Renee

Good point! Yes, part of why it enraged me is that it was saying "skinny shaming is not okay" and then totally fat shamed. Completely backwards. Thanks for your comment! - Renee

Thanks Dean! I'm glad that this resonated with you.

It's so easy (for me) to write about this stuff but difficult to always put into action. Still, the intention is there and it's nice to see that people are on the same page.

Thank you, Amani. Just came home from a writing group and every time I go I end up writing something, even if it's weird or I think I'm blocked, something still comes out. I needed that and this to remind me of the love attached to creating. And the reminder to trust myself. And that it's normal to be scared. Shit, girl, you're brilliant! xo

I don't either, generally, which is why I thought this was so important to post! :)
