Muir Woods for sure. (http://www.nps.gov/muwo/index.htm) and they are easy to get to with a car. (Go early - it gets crowded.)

We had a lovely dinner at The Stinking Rose (http://www.thestinkingrose.com/).

Lombard Street is the famous twisty street - you can drive it but I also recommend going on foot to check it out.

Not true. I buy stuff from Amazon.com all the time (books, DVDs, CDs, board games) and it ships to my Canadian address. Some things (like tea, electronics) will not but the page will generally tell you if it won't ship to your default (in my case Canadian) address.

We don't have a car - it would add some convenience to our lives, but the cost and day-to-day responsibility is just not worth it for us.

Where do you live that the subway costs $250 a month?? That's insane!
