Wow! That is definitely NOT how things are here although there are surely plenty of people who are what we call "workaholics" and work night and day with barely a break. It's funny you wrote this - one of my stories, I may have sent you one- I set in Tokyo, the main character is a software engineer and the story opens with his boss calling him into the office and forcing him to take a week's vacation because he's working 80 hour weeks and is actually looking ill. Otherwise, the boss would have let him keep working that way! lol And he freaks out at first with anxiety attacks because he doesn't want to leave the office. I wrote this before I knew about the reality of what you're explaining here. I didn't know it was quite that extreme.
Sounds like he's some lonely person who doesn't know how else to connect with people. He could also just be mentally ill. That's the sense I had from reading what you wrote.
Sorry you had such a crappy time, Kirin. It's been that kind of week for me too. Maybe a disturbance in the celestial forces, lol. :P
That is good to know for sure! I think that the basis of good relations begins at the level of what we do here - the way you blog and share your everyday life with readers from around the world establishes a very personal connection - that network of people connecting on this level and becoming friends, I feel strongly, will be the fabric that good relations on the larger level can be forged. If people are human to each other, then ultimately, they will be much less apt to fight and hurt each other than if they remain strangers. I hope that makes sense. :)
Seeing those photos was so painful. It's horrible that these things happen. I pray that the whole world can learn from this example not to use such weaponry, or better yet, to stop fighting. I don't hold out much hope for that, though, :(
Great, post, Kirin. The food as always, looks delicious. :)
If I make it there, calling you will be the first thing I do.
That masking tape shop is so cute! I love the traditional townhouse tape. If I were there, that's the one I'd have bought. :) The food looks good to. I'm trying to earn enough points on my Visa card to get a free round trip ticket to anywhere in Asia. It will take years but at least I have my destination picked out. :D
What a beautiful spot. Looks like time practically stood still there. I expected to see samurai walking around. :) Thanks for sharing.
Looks great. I wish we had restaurants like that here. Maybe in the big cities they have them but not where we are. We're surrounded by a million restaurants and most of them are crappy. lol
