13 years ago @ Winter Is Coming - More Thrones audition ... · 1 reply · +1 points

Hi, Brude.

Just to tack on to this, in between the time I posted this and now I had a video audition that went like this:

1) My agent called me and said that some casting agents pulled my photo and wanted me to submit a video audition.

2) I recorded the audition and uploaded it on a site that could be accessed by a link.

3) My agent sent the link to the casting agents.

For me that was it. My friend moved onto the next stage, though, which was going to a callback with the casting agents and eventually getting cast.

In this case, the casting agents were local, but the production company was about 300 miles away.

I think you're right. When he signs off he says:

"Off I go to shovel Snow."

That capitalization seems to indicate Jon Snow.

From what I know about New Mexico, I suspect the "Snowing" is a reference to his work on the book. It's currently about 86 degrees Fahrenheit there.

I noticed that he mentioned 10,000 BC and "inventing" accents, which may serve him well here. Of course, the fact that there will be a working Dothraki language should be of considerable help. Impressive list of credits, too!

Man, Nymeria that is a good idea. I just recently watched him in Zero Kelvin and was blown away.

He's excellent.

I thought it was absolutely one of the best things about the film. Powerful.

Yeah, he's definitely spreading himself thin.

Aside from a few notable exceptions, HBO seems to be all about giving talented folks without much renown a break with Game of Thrones. Maybe it'll be the direction they go with their composer as well.

Heh...If only I had scrolled down farther.

Yeah, if he'll be, "lurking around during the screening, just to watch audience reaction while the footage plays," there's no way it's Game of Thrones.

If only...

Looks like Bear McCreary updated his blog.

He's going to be scoring "The Cape" for NBC:

Wishful thinking, but maybe the early selection means we'll get a chance to hear the direction they're going for with the music in the next trailer.

On that note, you might remember that I posted a link to HBO's Boardwalk Empire Trailer a while back. Here's the version that was on their site at that time:

The song that's playing is "Straight Up And Down" by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, which I think goes really well with how the trailer is cut.

HBO has a new version of the trailer, with what I imagine is original music created for the show:

It seems a little bit like a step backwards to me, but it might just be that the trailer was cut to different music so this new music seems a bit out of step with it. However, it might be that whole "what's learned first is learned best" thing, because I watched the first version so much I got used to it.

Basically, my point is that if we get a solid trailer, whatever music is playing is going to be associated in my mind with the show. I'd prefer it to be from the actual composer, and I've got my fingers crossed. Still, I've seen many trailers with temporary music, or even music from other movies, so I'm not holding my breath.
