On the whole, a very powerful post that really had me until, "They occur in relationship to their environment; in a society built on forcible domination of bodies, it takes no large stretch of the imagination to conceive how rapists and killers are made." I don't think that every horrific crime can be pegged to society, though I think caricaturing criminals as 'evil' and 'animal' is too easy, too reflexive and happens far too often. I don't, for example, see the relevance of poverty or fatherlessness or racism to a recent retaliatory gang rape committed by young teens and I don't see the collective social responsibility for it. I don't see this as clear-cut as you do. The sketch has a triple reference that I think goes beyond mocking: the play off of the n-word, the play on the over identification of Asian men and masculinity with ninjas and Asian American stereotyping of black Americans. It's pretty unsuccessful social commentary and I don't approve of slur-play but I think it operates differently than, say, "Knitta, Please" and its n-word race-play, which I wrote about here http://www.studioist.com/knitta-please-and-resist...

Yes, it's clearly an expression of rage; I agree. But how is body-snarking on a black biracial woman, "pointing out that White female bodies are not as perfect as the media would have us believe"? The target of the quote was Kimora Lee Simmons and I don't think that attacking her figure has anything to do with resisting white oppression. It sounds like a personal beef.

Yes, black women are routinely slandered as group. What does that have to do with criticizing other women's appearance? (ie., "Cabbage-Patch Face; Bread Box Shaped Body and don’t forget—her spectacularly flat ass, girdle-controlled tummy and butt pad supported photo shopped Ebony magazine layouts—") Really disappointing.
