Last night i was talking about Phil with my wife and she teased me that I was going to cry when i watched tonight's show... Well, who wouldn't cry when a friend passes away. Nothing wrong with expressing sorrow at the passing of friend. I never met the man, but after watching the show for so many years, i feel like many of these guys are friends, in a fashion. I will also celebrate his life by tipping back a couple of cold ones and continuing to show my boys what is tough love. BTW: my wife like her men to be men. She is raising three boys, me and my two sons, and she loves every minute of it
To paraphrase an old adage, those who win the war, write the history. Right now, the left feels they have won the war and it is within their right to write the history as they see fit. There are enough stupid people out there (case in point, the 40% who still support Pres Obama) that believe that word was used and this “journalist” justifies their beliefs. As it has already been pointed out in the comments section, these people think that if something is repeated often enough, then the narrative will change. There are people who still believe that Bristol Palin is the mother of Sarah Palin’s little boy and Andrew Sullivan will keep beating that drum not matter how much evidence is lined up against his belief.
This movie was beyond awesome. I recall after watching the movie that i couldn't look at the trees outside my bedroom without going hmmmm... Arnold doesn't get any better. He was finally becoming more than just a screen full of muscles and was beginning to act. He was in his element as the leader of an elite force. When my boys were starting to get to the age where action movies were interesting to them, this was the movie I showed to them. Far and away my favorite Arnold movie.
Never had a desire to read the books or see the movies, but when one is trapped on 10 hour trans-Pacific flights and can't sleep sitting up One does what one does to pass the time. The movies were (are) mindless drivel, but that is just what the doctor ordered when stuck on a flight from Tokyo to Seattle. When I admitted just the other day to my teenage boys that I had seen both of the movies I thought they were going to dis-own me. I'll never do that again (tell my boys). If I again find my self stuck in an airplane on a mind-numbing flight and the next movie is offerred, i will probably watch.
On another note, the local newscast said that people were starting to line up for the Port Angeles premire last Weds. That level of commitment deserves a commiting to a small room with padded walls.
Awesome idea. Considering whom you are referring to, I'd be willing to bet there will be members lining up for your money. These folks have zero integrity would sell their souls and $100K is too big an offer to pass up. Once you have the information on hand, have a blast!
Sir Elton, (not that he'll ever read this), thanks for standing up on a principle that is truly important. Israel needs world-wide support in their on-going war. Although I am sure that you most likely lean more to the left than the right on many issues, your stand on this issues shows that you are not willing to read from the liberal talking points and are willing to stand up for what you believe is right. I have always been a fan (Funeral for a Friend is the best), but even more so now that you are standing up for Israel and have stood by your friend Rush.
Interesting to look over the map and see how the right to work and non right to work states are distributed. Pardone me for not doing in-depth research, but i'd guess they line up pretty close to liberal and conservative leaning populations. Heavily unionized NE and the heavily tree-hugging west coast are all non-right to work.
In today's environment, where kids get their influence from the TV and so forth, it is hard for a dad to break through sometimes. While I hope that my boys look up to me as a role model, I do have them watch John Wayne movies from time to time to show them how it was done way back when. Wayne was a man that other men were proud to know.____ Several years ago I was at a small resort (maybe an old B&B) in a small mountain town east of San Diego. There was a picture of Wayne standing on the porch, leaning against the railing near the front door. Later that day, my future (and current) beautiful bride found me standing in the same spot, in the same fashion. She wrapped her arms around me and said "you're no John Wayne, but you're still my Cowboy".____ Happu B-Day Duke, they don't make them like they used to.
I have a feeling these tactics will backfire on the SEIU crowd and their enablers (MSM, Dems and liberals). As part of their overall tactics, the left likes to get people to feel bad or good about an issue, rather than use logical thought processes, to win people over to their side of the matter. Where I think this will come back at them is the fact that a young child was in the house, alone, and scared out of his mind. While I personally would never entertain supporting a SEIU cause, those that might be sitting on the fence or un-informed will look at this through the eyes of a parent and put themselves in Mr Baer's shoes. SEIU had hoped to personalize this and gain empathy. Well, I think they went 1 for 2. The problem for them is they made it very personal to a lot of people when they scared that poor kid and attempted to block a father's access to his child.
Also interesting to note that the MSM (Pravda?) didn't bother to report on this event. Objective reporting went out the window back in the 60's and has only worsened as time has passed. If the MSM was as objective as they pretend to be, they should have been there in droves. Are you listening CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC
