great list! I would add "Create community," but I think combining everything you already listed leads directly to that. great job.

Hey Ronnie,
Tears were not intended, but I am so grateful that you can connect and vouch for the reality of it. It's as much the responsibility of leaders to engage their audience, no matter how young, as much as it is the responsibility of your youth group, for example, to respond in obediece. My prayer is that the Lord speaks through you as much as He breaks their hearts respond. Thanks for your comment!

*raising hand in the back of the classroom* Hi. Me too. I do that too. Not only have I discovered that I am the problem, but I have discovered WHY I am the problem. I am the problem because I am so convinced I can do this or that by my own strength, in my own ability. It always backfires. God, in His grace, continues to remind how much I need Him and the people He has surrounded me with. Great post, Kerry. Thanks for this.

Such a great challenge. This made me think of something I heard once in a sermon. The pastor said, "God is infinitely creative and we have been made in His image. Thus, when we are creative through whatever outlet He has most equipped us, we glorify His nature of creativity. Creative acts then, are a form of worship." Loved this. Thanks for sharing.

If we're being honest, my default setting is usually "panic first. pray later." Clearly not the most Biblical way of reacting. I'm working on it.

I literally just got my tickets in the mail today! I have never been before and am going by myself, but I couldn't be more excited! Thanks for sharing about special events; I'm definitely going to look into them. I'm looking forward to hearing from so many different speakers sharing about the things that I am most passionate about and hopefully discovering how I can be that much more involved.

@Blake- bahaha! He has a point Mr. Smith.

In all seriousness though, thanks for this post. Something I have learned, or rather, something that the Lord has taught me in the midst of my loneliness is this-- I am never closer to the heart of God then in those moments of loneliness. When there is nothing and no one to distract or deter my attention, I am wide open to receive everything He is and all that He has for me. Is loneliness uncomfortable? Of course. Is it worth it to se the face of God and hear Him whisper my name? Absolutely.

Well this really well timed... dang it. What's holding me back? Fear or failure and rejection, but more specifically-- failing or being rejected because I am (a) too much, or (b) not enough. Recently there has been this growing fear that while my dreams and passions are my own, my lack of "X-Y-Z" will hinder me in ever fulfilling them. Conclusion-- lies... straight from the pit of _______. Solution- fight til I prove myself wrong.

Thanks for this, Spence.

Great post, Spence. Such a beautiful and convicting thing-- choosing happiness, deciding to be joyful, being resolved to remember Who's we are and what we have in Christ. I can't help but think that Jesus didn't WANT to go to the cross, but He CHOSE to do so, "for the joy set before Him." What joy might that have been? Reconciling us to Himself. The ultimate romance.

I just got really excited about this day! Enjoy your time there and come back safely!
