"This is nonsense: one doesn’t reinvent oneself each time a new fact comes to the fore, and this is as true of journalists as it is of ordinary mortals. One comes to the table with biases and then tries to integrate newly discovered facts into one’s worldview as it has evolved up to that point. New facts may lead you in a new direction ...Yet it isn’t just the nature of human beings but also the structure of reality itself that imbues every thinking person with a point of view. The real crime against journalism, and against reason itself ... is to ignore the facts when they contradict that bias."

This view is very close to the philosophy advocated by Karl Popper. At least some Miseans and Rothbardians write Karl Popper off as a positivist — which is a shame because nothing could be farther fro the truth. Check out his book _The Open Society and Its Enemies_. Sure, he advocates piecemeal social engineering, but nobody is perfect. When it comes to epistemology, Popper is tops.

Anyway, Murray Rothbard's approach can be made compatible with Popper's methodology: http://www.the-rathouse.com/rc_popperpaper.html
