Well-Heeled, With a Mission : Get the Best Deal: Ask for Price Adjustment

I have done the same thing. It is just more money in my pocket. I just think it is crazy that you had to go through the hassle. It would have been more efficient for all parties if they just let you keep the dress you ordered and refunded you back the difference. That would saved everyone time and money...

Give Me Back My Five Bucks : Spending Recap: August 29-September 4, 2011

I just ordered business cards for my blog as well. I got a deal since I know the owner of http://pressinkllc.com My grandmother always used to say that it takes money to make money and I agree. However, every investment should have a ROI. (rate of return) I think what you spent was reasonable, even more so if they helped with the design. Your business card speaks a lot of who you are. You could have just went with VistaPrint.com and selected free business cards. Would they work? Absolutely. Would people think differently of your business? Most definitely. As far as your face cream goes, it is what you like and what you want. I don't see an issue with it. I really don't see an issue with anything someone buys with cash as long as they are debt free and are saving at least 15% a year for retirement. You just have to balance enjoying your life with responsible spending. Cheers to you. Well done! To your financial health -- Martilyo! http://angrymillionaire.com http://angrymillionaire.com/twitter http://angrymillionaire.com/facebook My recent post Mental floss...a success!

Give Me Back My Five Bucks : Guest Post: Don't Let Other People Tell You How to Spend

I agree with you. I think during some stages of our lives we get retarded with money. Weddings, funerals, new cars, houses...etc. Emotions run rampant during these times and the people on the receiving end of our money try to make you think that money isn't important. They are wrong. Money is very important. What makes things worse is when people finance such things. They are living in the now and realizing how important it is to live now, but keep your future in mind. I have paid a lot of "stupid tax" over the years and it ended. I write a lot about this in my pf blog, The Angry Millionaire. As far as "Professional" photographers go, I have taken some of the best pictures with my $100.00 point-and-shoot digital than I have with my $1600.00 Canon SLR camera. I have found some of my friends that I grew up with have side photography businesses they promote on Facebook. I would work out a deal with them. You help them advertise their business and they give you a major financial break. Not including that someone you know personally is taking part in your marriage. Good luck to you! To your financial health -- Martilyo! http://angrymillionaire.com http://angrymillionaire.com/twitter http://angrymillionaire.com/facebook My recent post Mental floss...a success!

That is awesome Krystal! I am very jealous... I want to go to the FBC! I am sure you will have a blast. Let us know how it goes. Post some pictures! Maybe I can go next year. Hopefully, I will have some side income as well to help get me out of debt faster. I like it how you seem to hold yourself accountable on your blog. I am doing the same thing with my blog and tracking my quest in becoming debt free. Cheers to you!
Honestly, for me, 3 times and you are out of here... You have given AMEX more chances to get it right than I would have. Maybe they were bought out by BOA - Bank of America. They both seem to have a bunch of idiots working for them. Amex should reimburse you 5% of the fraud charges just as an "inconvenience" rebate. I would keep them then...LOL Martilyo! http://angrymillionaire.com http://angrymillionaire.com/twitter http://angrymillionaire.com/facebook My recent post Hurricane Irene and the $1000.00 emergency savings fund in action

Give Me Back My Five Bucks : The decision to hire a house cleaner

To hire or not to hire...that is the question... at least for this post... In my most humble opinion, if you are not in debt, do not like to clean, can afford the service and your time is better spent elsewhere, then hire the cleaner.  It is not like you are asking to hire a maid, butler or a driver.  Let's look at this from a different perspective.  Knowing what your time is worth, financially speaking, would it be cheaper to hire someone or do it yourself?  Even if the price was the same, not having to deal with cleaning would, at least for me, take a load off of my shoulders.  I would recommend a cleaning person referred by another and not a company who hires whoever.  Besides, I would not let just anyone in my home alone with what I own.  Hmmm I made a rhyme.  LOL  so... not intentional.. LOL  Let us know how it goes!      Martilyo!   http://angrymillionaire.com  http://angrymillionaire.com/twitter  http://angrymillionaire.com/facebook   My recent post Hurricane Irene and the $1000.00 emergency savings fund in action&#8230;

Well-Heeled, With a Mission : Should We Reschedule Honeymoon for $2K Savings?

Well-Heeled, With a Mission : Should We Reschedule Honeymoon for $2K Savings?

Hello WHB, now instead of you posting on my blog, http://angrymillionaire.com, I am commenting on yours... The answer is easy and absolute. If this vacation was just a regular plain-jane kind of mental floss vacation I'd say save the money. However, this is your honeymoon and you are only supposed to get married once. Vacations come and go and so do the memories, however your honeymoon memories will never go away. Make them happy memories. Is an extra $2k worth happier memories during the beginning of your long lasting marriage? You betcha! Don't be cheap on your honeymoon. Spend the money!

Give Me Back My Five Bucks : Dating etiquette: how to split the costs

Very good post! I have been married for 15 years and I have been mostly the breadwinner. In my opinion, guys who always want to pay for EVERYTHING, regardless of the incomes, have issues. Whether it is a control issue or their own issue of not feeling comfortable with their own masculinity, it is not healthy. After a while, it will give the female a false sense of forced dependence. If the female is independent by nature, she will start feeling very awkward. I have always been the fan of turn taking. As long as they don't have to keep a running track of who paid last! LOL Taking turns paying will make the relationship feel equal. Of course the best way to split cost is however the couple agrees to it :-) Really good work Krystal. Excellent topic of discussion! Kudos to you! You just inspired me to write a new entry in my PF blog, <a href="http://www.angrymillionaire.com" target="_blank">www.angrymillionaire.com Martilyo! <a href="http://www.angrymillionaire.com" target="_blank">www.angrymillionaire.com https://twitter.com/#!/angrymillionair https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Angry-Milliona... My recent post Home is where you hang your sombrero part 2

Give Me Back My Five Bucks : The growth of my freelance business

That is awesome! You have inspired me so much that I started my own personal finance blog to track my progress as I go from debt to wealth and I will help everyone I can as I do it. We really need to help one another with education, motivation and accountability. We cannot count on the government regarless of the country. I could only dream of having a well known website offer me side work. I love writing about finance, saving money and efficiency. I also feel your pain when it comes to critics. I have come to find out that there are unhappy people in this world and no matter what you say or what you do, you are wrong in their eyes and what you say is like science fiction to them. Just try to focus on the people, like me, who you inspire to make positive changes in life. Thanks again for what you do and good luck on your goals! To your financial health -- Martilyo! http://www.angrymillionaire.com http://twitter.com/#!/angrymillionair https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Angry-Milliona... My recent post Debt Worth, laying the cards on the table

Give Me Back My Five Bucks : Guest Post: What I've learned from combining finances with my husband

What happened when the pastor stated "and now you are one"? Your money along with many other things should be intimate or combined when you are married. I guess it is my opinion that when you start a marriage with aspects kept separate it is just a beginning to disaster later. If you are planning to be married until "death do us part" then you should not feel resentful for anything. Again, not to be disrespectful, just my opinion.
A talk show without guests would make the talk show blah... I think having a guest blogger write a post from time to time is a great way to keep a blog interesting and also promote the guest. If it wasn't for Krystal, I would have never know about let alone read Amber's blog. Thanks Krystal!
Many newly married couples forget to talk about important issues before marriage. The top of the list is money. Before getting married, there should not be any secrets about finances. Both parties should "disclose" what they make, what they spend and what they owe. If the answer is "It's none of your business" Then they have no business getting married. The #1 subject married couples fight about is money. They should both sit down and come up with a budget, strategy for getting out of debt (if any), retirement plan, college savings and so on and so forth. Krystal, I am liking the guest post idea. I would like to be a guest sometime. Let me know! To your financial health--Martilyo!
I am sorry to hear that Amy. Any money that comes into your marriage is "our" money. It does not sound like he is acting like he is married. In my opinion, I would take the money and pay off any and all consumer debt, including your student loan. It really sounds like you both need marriage counseling. "His' and "her" money is not what was intended when you both got married. As far as the inheritance going back to his siblings, I am not too sure about that one. If it is his inheritance and your husband passes, it becomes part of his estate, which you are entitled to since you are his wife. Obviously another good idea for you both to have wills. I would sit down with him and talk to him about the money. It is not like you are wanting to go buy a brand new exotic sports card. He almost sounds like he is a little kid that has money burning a hole in is pocket. Checkout my website angrymillionaire.com It is new, however set up to help people get out of debt and stay out of debt. Don't let him "blow" all of this money. Bad idea. Hope this helps!
Is it a want? You betcha! So what? If you can cash flow it and not borrow money (read loan) to buy it, I'd say go for it.
