Not sure which part was the joke, Ted... but all comments are always welcome here.

No idea why comments got disabled on that post, but that's been rectified; pretty sure our commenting system is haunted.

Before you can solve a problem you must clearly describe it. This is what the documentary does. As you say, it's well-made.

One can deduce that the first step in such a solution is to separate Government and Business.

Identify problem area, fix, re-start, observe, repeat.

I will check out Technocalyps too, thanks for bring it my attention.

re: AI - Ray explicitly says he hopes to resurrect his dead father using this tech AND that humanity will co-evolve with tiny machines inside them AND that GodLike AIs will appear. I have always been a proponent of the continued co-evolution of man and the tools he creates, it's where GodLike AIs will have Human Concerns that I am explicitly challenging.

re: biological evolution - what I'm saying is that current genetic research seems to indicate that it's very far from static. Also, afaik, they've yet to explain the Flynn Effect. Add to this the fact that syllogistic reasoning is the direct product of literacy (of the word) & I think it's reasonable to infer that without adding machines to the body another Mental Advance may soon (or perhaps already has?) result from this new Literacy (of the Computer/SocialNetwork/Google sphere) - a new mental module installed into humanity, if you will.
