I sent you an email message. Sorry. I had no idea what you were talking about, and 5 consecutive comments started to take on the look of a staccato monologue. It's gotta be 5 o'clock some where. yikes. (If you'd like to try again in a condensed version (1 post) I'll be happy to keep it, and trash the others.) Sorry for the mix-up. Thanks for visiting.

Really enjoyable read, Jon. Nice meditation for me to dwell on today. That stuff kills me too when it happens to my kids. The world can be so harsh. Jesus is a safe place to fall. Thank you. -Lisa P.S. I want to confess, On serious Wednesdays (WHICH I LOVE, and read EVERY time) I was feeling "out of whack" for a few months. Like I missed a snack, but later got a meal, but still missed that snack. THEN I realized it was because there was a imbalance of funny for that day b/c of serious Wednesday. Like a scientist trying to find a vaccine for swine flu at the cusp of the outbreak, I set to work to remedy this-somehow, and against the odds. What I came up with was penning (and by that I mean typing) a Whacky Wednesday style post each week to offset to the seriousness of serious Wednesday (WHICH I LOVE, and read EVERY time). Serious is good. But as important as it is, seriousness isn't a fruit of the spirit. AND I found out, neither is Intensity. I'm as surprised as you. I'll be looking into this more if my grant money comes through from the government department of funniness, but so far I've found 12, yes 12, Fruits of the Spirit, that have *not* made the cut. I hope you (or our siblings in Christ, reading here) can contribute one of your/their own, if you know of others. thanks, again. http://wp.me/pri9O-XP

Jon, I say blame the stomach flu. Or parking meters. no worries. My son yelled a cautious and loud "oh my GOODness" into the stillness and quiet of a wedding once, as my brother and his wife lit a unity candle. He was thinking about safety concerns. I have left a service if I wasn't feeling well.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Having 2 Gods.

I have a similar knee jerk reaction sometimes to thinking of God as sort of "mean" or maybe somewhat malicious, especially if something horrible happens. And horrible things really have happened that seem to make ZERO sense. Thankfully, this area of great weakness, has gotten far healthier by reading and studying the Bible in context. The book "How to Read the Bible for All It's Worth" was immensely helpful in this journey. I even buy the book @ Ollies Bargain Outlet and give it out to people. so !!!! If any of you need break or laugh in your day, stop by to see this Star-Spangled Mustache: http://bit.ly/9fn0NE Happy mid-week day to you!
Love reading when you write here. The haters will always be there, like flies to honey. Or ants at a picnic. Or maggots...okay, nevermind. SO many ppl are bored or bitter, or both, and have WAY too much idle time on their hands. It gets easy to be mean, and hard to behave. hang in there.

Jon-JON-Jon Cripes! YOU FORGOT ----->Pizza<------. Every retreat includes pizza, at some point. Usually it tastes a bit like cardboard topped with spaghetti sauce, but it's a STANDARD. I defy you to mention a retreat that has not had PIZZA. Am I right people? (It's the power of cheese!) more on that @ my blog. (I'm a certified fake Dr. of Cheesiology)

hey Jon, You forgot the "thumbs up" game. The last person holding his thumbs up prays. It's so odd, b/c it instantly makes praying to our Creator and Savior, a punishment for poor reflexes. HAHAHAHahahah Jon---you've inspired me to do more copywriting.
Captain's Blog : When Everything's Made to be Broken

Your honesty is truly inspiring. Thank you! Clinical Depression is chemical, and it can be helped through medication. I think, though it may have a genetic component, circumstances can and do trigger it. I haven't told too many that I've struggled with it, to one degree or another, since adolescence. One can't talk or will their way out it it. Since it effects the mind, the mind is not so good–on its own–to be a needed advocate to total wellness. It can be so insidious b/c it changes our thinking and perspective. (The very thing we need to have working well to feel well). catch 22. All my life, I never took meds, but saw a counselor for a time. I wish now that I had been on a med AND seen a counselor at the same time. My health would have been better improved, more quickly. I take Fluoxetine daily, and it really has given me a better quality of life. Like I can see out of the hole I was in (plenty of the time, I didn't even realize anymore that it was such a hole.) I have heartily recommended trying meds to others who may need it. One may not need them for more than a few months, but the stigma of the whole thing is something that should dissipate. In all other ways in illness, it's important to seek help. Ear infections need meds. Diabetes needs regular meds. Chemical or hormone imbalance---needs meds too. That's just the simple truth about it. I applaud you, Chad, and I'm with you in spirit and body. I wrote this so you will know that, and so others will take steps to get help and recovery. It is worth it. Not just for you and your family, but to better do what God has gifted you to do, and to help others find a way to freedom and wellness. In my prayers, brother. Lisa
