well.. now that I have the leak fixed.. or pretty much.. it's time to concentrate on getting the coffee taste better.. just found the following which actually looks like it may work..
http://www.coffeedetective.com/keurig-b60-leaking...

"The second fix to improve coffee taste is the take a discard K-cup (has the hole in the bottom), cup off the plactic flange, remove the old coffee and paper filter, rub off all the glue on the inside of the K cup that is used to hold the paper filter in place(is this glue made of safe compounds?).

Now drop the K-cup shell inside the My K-Cup, install the wire screen, fill with coffee and try it. The K-cup shell slows down the water flow and allows the coffee to mix better like a regular k-cup.
Let us know how this works for you!"

Going to try that tonight :P

It also has a tip on using an elastic band around the body of the my-k-cup shell to keep it a bit higher when it sits in the machine.. makes sense (this was to eliminate leaking which is no longer an issue for me anyhow)

Right now I'm using Robins coffee.. but I'm going to switch back to Tims Coarse Grind for my next one.. or at least I think.. depends on how this next experiment goes :P

Aha! I'm not sure if you are having the leaking problem I have.. but I found the answer and it was so simple it's almost stupid.. (I just brewed a non-leaking cup 20 seconds ago :P)

So that one is now in the books as complete :) now tomorrow I'm going to pack the coffee in a bit more as I don't find it quite strong enough just yet.. (and thought previously that the leaking was due to me packing it in.. )

We'll figure this out!! ha ha ha. I agree with your solofil idea.. personally I wouldn't mind paying the price as I know it doesn't take long for it to pay for itself when you consider the cost (both in the wallet and environment) of the k-cups. That said, there are other products out there which also claim to do the same, including re-usable regular k-cup lids.. (k-caps).

Interesting, found lots of articles on the my k-cup leaking:

my current grinds aren't course.. I'll have to do that next..

Hmm.. also found an alternative to the My K-Cup..

If I can't stop the leaking.. going to order that :-)

Hey Lori!

While I'm not really that picky when it comes to my coffee and the speed of the brew really keeps me going back to the 'my k-cup'.. it is far from perfect.. I'm not sure why, but mine tends to leak all the time.. pain in the arse.. but I think it's something that I'm doing.

I also know there's another type of "my k-cup" out there which may be better.. not sure.. guess it's time to do some googling and report back :-)

Thanks for your comments Roxanne.. my province does rock - that's for sure :-)

I like yer idea about the 'top slice' of bread.. cuts the carbs in 1/2.. good option... I'm getting along good with no bread so far, so we'll see how long I can go without a sammy :P

We do have 'cheating' days as well.. truthfully that's what I like about it so far.. it's not the "hell bent on eating differently" type of thing, and I'm down around 8 lbs so far on it after about 2 weeks give or take.

I'll be posting my progress.. but have been slacking in the writing department.. hopefully get a chance to write more soon!

Cheers!

No problem Roxanne.. at the time I was really confused.. took me a bit to get my head around it.. seems simple now, but I guess that's always the way :-)

thanks for the comment...

your experience with the clone is VERYYY interesting.. especially when I head to that site and it's got all the specs and everything.. at a fraction of the price..

I'd be really interested in hearing more about your experience with it.. especially since I have a substantial amount saved up now for an e-reader and could likely put that money to better use if this will do everything I want..

Hmmmm..

Oh yeah? I actually have a bunch saved up for the new iPad (holiday gift cards and putting away some here and there).. will likely be buying new as soon as they come out depending on feature set.. the Motorola Xoom is also looking quite nice.
