I love the natural finish it has right now, it's a little more unusual. It looks even better in the photos Kevin took of the guitar with his models - does that guy have the best job in the world or what?! In saying that, the new Charcoal Burst should look killer. I really hope to try one of these some day and it'll be between the natural and black unless they introduce some more finishes by then.
For now I have a lemon yellow All-Rounder with maple fretboard in the works - you know me and my love of colour! Looking forward to joining this exclusive club, will be nice to show something off to my righty friends that they CANT get their hands on for a change ;)

If you have a tiny budget definitely buy used. This way you know that you will always be able to recover all of your money when you sell the guitar on. As long as you look after the guitar it shouldn't depreciate in value.
Sorry I can't really help you with which way to play - that's a personal decision that only you can make. Read through the article and make an informed decision on your own terms :)
