Clearly you have misunderstood my comment. I was not giving a judgement on whether these bands/tracks are "good", I was merely commenting that the lister began by mentioning a specific cover, therefore giving the impression that the rest of the article would be in a similar vein, but then gave a list of 10 covers that were of a different nature altogether.

For the record, as I originally stated, all of the bands can easily be described as "Nu-Metal". This is nothing to do with relative popularity, or whether or not they "suck".

I must admit I am thoroughly disappointed by this list. The introduction discusses "sub-genres" within music, however if the author was fully versed in these sub-genres they would realise that all of the above covers can (and invariably will) be described as "Nu-Metal", not "Metal".

Furthermore, the introduction mentions the Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt". Part of the reason this cover is so good is that Cash managed to keep the lyrical themes and chord structure that Reznor used, but simultaneously changed the way we think of/look at/listen to the song, mainly through his manipulation of timbre. The covers you have placed on this list have, for the most part, not tried to change how we perceive the track itself; they have tried, in my opinion, to change the way we may perceive the artist performing the cover, thereby reducing the original composition to nothing more than a media tool.

I know I've seen it in a another list somewhere on this site, but you can't tell me Africa isn't confusing!

Not sure whether he counts as a guitarist that is generally "unknown", however I think he is probably less well-known than Holdsworth and therefore should (in my opinion) be included in this list: John McLaughlin. He is, and always has been, a visionary.
