You could have expanded on WHY Tony Blair gets a gold.

"Having initially taken time to decide whether to back a bid, Tony Blair and company went into the campaign fully committed.

Blair, who spoke at the official bid launch, was the only leader of the five to attend the Athens Olympics and lobbied in Singapore despite his G8 commitments.

His presence at such a crucial time is thought to have personally swayed key voters.

Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, who is in line to be the Olympics minister, worked hard at local level.

Blair took a gamble by flying to Singapore, and glad-handed an estimated 30 IOC members himself. "

Still waiting for a reply as to this site's new pin-up boy, top centre (but of course). A certain former Labour Prime Minister, if I'm not very much mistaken. Aka "The Master"?

Sorry if I am failing to respond to all follow-on comments. I find the link sent through to inform me NEVER takes me to the actual comment or even the thread. No time to keep searching through. Do others find this?

Btw, Tony Blair is back.

Yes, I'm afraid you WERE misled. Since he first took the Mid East appointment his job description has been viewable online. He is not the "enyoy" but the "Representative of the envoys (of the Quartet)". It is part of the effort to discredit him that the press elevated him. So much farther to fall when they knock him down. You DO get the largely "anti" media agenda on this, don't you?

It's either as simple as that or the media are just plain simple. Hang about - I think I've got it: they're simple. There you go, don't ever say I am ungenerous to our meeja.

Tony Blair Is Not & Never Was The "Middle-East peace Envoy" . Here's the proof: http://fkabs1.wordpress.com/2012/02/06/breaking-n...

The BBC does have a wider spread than ALL the rest put together. But it is anti-Blair & anti-Iraq war, though some say it is still "left". Some also say it is pro-right. Open to debate. I see it as pretty much Lib-Dem/Conservative to be blunt.

As for Middle East peace - just try to get your facts straight. Blair isn't and never was the Middle East peace envoy. He 'represents' the envoys from the USA/EU/Russia/UN. Shoot THEM - not the messenger.

They quote one international lawyer - Philippe Sands. His take suits their opinions.

The population didn't turn on Blair. When he left he had a higher rating that Cameron has had at any time. He was NOT removed by the voters.
