Look, all the reviews are saying that it's a poor ending after a great buildup, but I will defend how the film ends. I think it perfectly fits the preceding time we've spent with these characters and ups the stakes in an enjoyable comic book movie fashion. It's ridiculous, sure, but the first 2/3 of this experience earned enough goodwill to go with it in the end.

In other words, I liked The Wolverine from beginning to end.

Oh but Apocalypse? That looked like shit from the first trailers onward. Never stopped looking like a complete mess of a film, and I'm happy to know that my intuition was not misplaced.

What would make me really decide to buy these books in print would be the art. I love your writing, but considering I can and probably already have read most of this stuff before, I'd really like to see you take advantage of the physical medium by offering something I really like to have in my physical hands. I recently got the Birth.Movies.Death. Star Wars issue and was really happy with that.

Speaking of which, any chance you'll be able to contribute to their Batman v. Superman issue? Would love to see your name there.

Bob, I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Vehemently. In fact, I'm shocked that you are lacking perspective in this topic.

Obviously Chris Pine was also amazing in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.

Beyond that (heehee), you're hitting the nail on the head. This looks like a lot of fun.

And even that's wasted. There's chemistry there, sure, but the film forgets to actually add a story to it or a compelling hook to it. They just flirt with each other the whole time, and they talk to each in the beginning the exact same way they talk to each other at the end.

Meanwhile, the opening shot of Spider-Man establishes conflict in a way that the Webb movies never actually do, and when the relationship does change, as Bob details here, it means something. Parker grows and changes.

I'm okay with watching these trailers because they're so awesome and seem like part of the movie-watching experience.

This same phenomenon happened with Kings, a political drama on NBC that was a modern retelling of the story of King David. It was an excellent show, essentially taking the House of Cards route with a Biblical epic years before House of Cards (the US version at least) ever came about. I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested. It's still available for streaming on the NBC website.

Agreed. If you haven't already, read this and imagine how in a hypothetical world, it was describing a Superman movie.

It looks pretty cool, though I can't help but feel that the trailer spent a little too much time on Wahlberg. I feel like this will be another example of Transformers being background characters in their own movie.
