*Shrug*

Every site goes down sooner or later, so I'm not so sure that this is newsworthy. I can't remember a single time I ever dropped by and found that Wordpress.com was offline, so based on that admittedly unscientific sampling, I'm going to guess that it has a fairly good uptime record.

"Software publisher Automattic, which runs WordPress.com, went down today and took millions of blogs and other websites with it."

Which might sound damning to those who read that sentence quickly, but let's think about what it really means - that Wordpress.com is a very popular provider. That's a good thing about Wordpress, not a bad thing. A more popular service is one less likely to go out of business.
