Hi, I think it does it by set (or at least, I've only done it by set so far!).

Yeah! It really saved my friend a TON of time. It also scared him a little bit to see how much gold he spends on reforges every time. LOL

Our raid members take little to no damage from only one extra player's worth of splash damage (if positioned correctly in the 2-2-2 configuration, each player will only take 1 more additional ice splash aside from their own) because of the frost resist they wear. Frost resist helps throughout the rest of the fight as well so it is not only for this purpose. Most players with either one shield or one HoT (sometimes even minor simple AoE healing like Healing Stream totem or divine storm are enough) are at 100% HP before the 4th and final frost bomb hits and it's time to break the blocks. Also, if melee stand on the center block(s) (the position labeled as blocks 3 & 4), AoE abilities from rogues (Fan of Knives), warriors (whirlwind and etc.), DKs (disease spreading), Ret paladins (Divine storm), and feral druids (Swipe) should be able to hit at least 4 blocks if not all 6 blocks at once.

Alternatively we sometimes assign groups to stand behind certain blocks if the DPS aren't being mindful and fail to simply switch to the blocks that appear highest in health (which is very easy nowadays because the blocks have working v-key name plates above them). Basically this positioning arose from the fact that we were already wearing Frost Resist gear, so there wasn't much disadvantage to simplifying the design of the positioning such that new players (or forgetful ones) could easily find the correct position.

Hopefully that answers your questions! What works for one raid may or may not work for another, so it can be important to know the reasoning behind certain tactics.

I can see how most aspects of that rule are frustrating, however consider this:
Item drops.
Person A is "going to" wear the item after they get x or y other pieces of gear.
Person B wants to wear it right now because it's an upgrade for them regardless in every way.
Would that really seem fair? I mean, if it's over offspecs, I can understand that. But I can tell you I've been in the position where I was pining for a spectacular upgrade only to have someone else win it over me and keep it in their bank for a month because that "other item" never dropped.

An above poster is right though. It's a "generally" good rule taken to an extreme. In my pugs if it's BoE we simply ask them to "equip it real fast" so the raid leader can look, they say OK, and the player can then equip their old gear until after the raid.

Overall though, I pretty much agree. Wtf? Did these raid leaders ever consider that to be efficient, almost every player who gets an upgrade would have to port to a city, use the AH, switch on and off of alts, and then send themselves the items? It'd be a waste of time but then again so is wearing unenchanted/ungemmed gear >.>

Every good raider knows that gear appearance accounts for 98% of your healing/DPS/hit points.

This is why my blood elf carries his pink dress and antlers with him at all times. That set is seriously like 15k dps.

I totally agree with that making a new guild thing. People so often fail to realize that even if they DO find a way to manage the guild, the more specific you get with the requirements the harder it is to find people who fit your bill. I'm not saying it's bad to have standards, I'm just saying that if you feel "out of place" in your current guild because you're a Japanese-speaking Swede who has a vested interest in basket weaving, it's going to be harder than you think finding 10 or 25 raiders out of the blue that have the exact same experiences/interests that you do ;)
I guess what I'm saying is, guildies should be buddies. In general, anyway. Maybe they smell a little funny. Maybe they write "your" at the wrong time and it irks you, but they're all-around nice people and you still have a fun time playing with them. All in all, if everyone can have a reasonable amount of similar goals, I think everyone can be happy.

Lol yeah the webmaster of our guild site was looking at wordpress 3.0. I was talking with him and he goes "oh hey, a new update-" and I yell "WAIT! Go back it up first... trust me.. it will save you a lot of headache..."

And so he did. And so he updated to 3.0 . And so the website imploded. And all was good because there was a backup. So eventually he figured out a way to make 3.0 work without having to start from scratch using the tiny little imploded pieces of the website that used to be.

I don't know why but my website transitioned perfectly into WP 3.0, without much consequence. I mean I was actually expecting to at LEAST have to look for plugin updates. How anticlimactic.

My pet peeve:
role vs. roll.
Hate when people ask for someone to come fill a "healing roll"! It makes me imagine a sort of bread bun shaped like a priest.
