good point, greg. i tend to agree with you about the dividing line. draw the line was spotty, but did have some very good tracks. rock in a hard place and night in the ruts had a moment here and there, but you are right when you say the first four albums really do represent the 'best' of the aerosmith legacy.

again. my use of 'slamming' was probably ill-advised. but to say i specifically used the word to gain some kind of extra attention for my saturday post on a beatles/paul mccartney story is just plain wrong.

you're right, drew. i think 'slamming' was not the best word i could have chosen.

i get your point c.k. and i get jon bon jovi's point as well. but for bon jovi to single out steve jobs for wrecking the beauty of music discovery/experience is ignorant. he might as well be a record exec still lamenting it's not 1978 and the music labels are an impenetrable fortress of power. those days are over! i have plenty of vinyl, and i have fond memories of staring at my copy of coltrane's 'blue train' or sly stone's 'there's a riot going on' for hours while the music played.

but my music collection today is expanded and diversified because of folks like steve jobs. i can discover and enjoy a lot more music today than ever before. some of it is awful, some amazing. maybe the consumption process isn't as much fun, but it's right there for me.

is bon jovi scared of technology? annoyed that fans are able to buy one song from the new bon jovi album because the rest of it sucks? i respect bon jovi's grief over a lost era of experiencing music, but until he yanks his band's catalog off itunes he should just think before he says something as silly as his comment about steve jobs.

feel free to put gwyneth paltrow on the list anytime now. and speaking of liberal guilt. rermember the denzel/halle berry oscars? yikes! he is a great actor, but he should be holding the trophy for malcolm x, not training day (a terrific movie, but not oscar worthy). russell crowe was screwed that year. i love how 'a beautiful mind' wins all the big awards except best actor. i guess the idea of a hanks-ian repeat win just was too much for the academy to handle.

she's nice to look at, which makes up for having to listen to the same ol' pop-meets-(kinda)-country music from a pretty blond girl. the video is about as naughty as a victoria's secret commercial. in fact, it's less naughty! i hope all the short-lived hoopla helps her album sales.

The quasi-documentary aspect of the show is awful. It's unnecessary, and worse, does not work. With The Office, the documentary style feels right and works nicely within the confines of the ongoing story/stories, but when utilized by Modern Family it just gets in the way.

I'm not saying the show isn't well-acted, or isn't funny, but the documentary technique is a bad idea.
