So do I. Punks are like the Marxists of rock -- they insist on rewriting musical history in their favor. Facts is facts: bands like Yes and ELP were huge and they continued to be huge throughout the "heyday" of punk. There is, of course, no mention that several prog bands, including Yes, toned down the excesses of their sound in response to punk. Obviously, proggers can be receptive to punk but, like a spoiled child, punkers are incapable of showing the same courtesy.

Take your Sex Pistols and cram them up your ass. As far as I'm concerned, it was the punks who did the most to destroy the potential of rock music. The Pistols are a horrible example anyway -- at least The Ramones did not have any kind of pretentious agenda other than to create fun bubblegum pop.

What an insipid post -- no wonder it comes from a punk fan. Have you even listened to Yes? Yes has some fantastic melodies in addition to their instrumental skills. I have no idea why punk and prog cannot co-exist, but I will say that most of the animosity comes from the punkers fighting a battle that was settled long before most of them were born.

If nothing else, no Black Flag album ever had a cover as cool as the ones painted by Roger Dean for Yes.
