Welcome back, Rand! I agree, twitter lost its charm. Blindly defending Jordan is like when parents never correct their children's behaviors. Imagine how these children will become in 20 or 30 years.

http://one-ugly-duckling.blogspot.com/ : 10 Things to Tell Your Salespeople.

Long time ago in Irbid if you want to buy a good quality shoe you go to baleh, the irony. Anyway, I was shopping for a shoe in baleh and found one that I liked, I took it to the cashier handed him a 20JD bill (I forgot the price of the shoe) but he told me he doesn't have a change and I should break it down by asking around. After begging for a change from his neighbor shops I came back to him excited to buy my new shoe to find out that he sold it to someone else. After reading your list it seems horrible shopping experience in Jordan is destined never to change. Maybe I should write about my shopping experience in the US just to tease you :)

http://one-ugly-duckling.blogspot.com/ : Reform What: Businesses; Production & Services.

Do you have a foreign agenda or something? Talking about reform might be dangerous not because of government, mind you, but because of people. Anyway, I am writing a post about customer service in America but didn't publish it yet. You will be shocked about how important customer service is important here. The general idea and the logic suggest that bad customer service means a failed business. But in Jordan it seems this theory is working in the opposite direction. I have read many complaints about how bad the Jordanian cell phone service industry is but all what I hear is that their businesses are growing up. How come?

http://naserz.blogspot.com/ : Jordan social media Bullshit day

Naser, I have never been to any of these social media events. I don't know a single person who attend these events. Everything I know is from what I read on blogs. I may agree with you that I have read a lot about these too many meetings. But I can't say whether such thing is good or bad because I have never been to one. I believe that one can not do his best if he doesn't accept criticism and learn from it if it is valid. You have all the right to criticize for the sake of improving what we have. And I hope the organizers of this event either learn from their mistakes, if they have any, or explain their policies clearly. I think social media events are still new to Jordan and so they are prone to mistakes. Again, I am not defending anyone or even know exactly what is going on there on these meetings. What I am trying to say is that a meeting for Jordanian bloggers is an excellent idea. We finally, got people to hear via bloggers what local news never said before. Bloggers can really change things and such meetings are supposed to improve the quality of blogging, one would hope. And of course having fun mean while is no harm. Without blogging I would have never hear the other voice of this event :) My recent post The Arabic guide to living in the US: The 4th of July

If only people you mentioned in your rant read blogs :) Luckily, I didn't experience few of the things you mentioned especially number 10. But I would like to vent here since it seems it is okay to do so at the "The Blog of the Ugly Duckling" :) I hate the questions/surveys Facebook came up recently and people are using with no limit. The questions serve no purpose other than annoying people and the results of the vote mean nothing. So why ask questions (this is an informative statement not a question). I feel better now. I should come here more often and vent some social media etiquette frustration :) I hope I don't end up being in your next list about worst blog commentators though :)

Okay, I am interested now to know what is wrong with Sha'rawi's gum. Why the boycott? Please read the email and tell me, tell me. Do people still send FW emails? Beside my uncle who is officially my email spammer, I rarely receive FW emails. Every FW email I receive from my uncle has 200 plus names from previous senders or receipts. Who ever taught my uncle how to use email told him that whenever he receives an email he should forward it directly to as many people as possible or else...
http://one-ugly-duckling.blogspot.com/ : 10 Facts You Probably Did not Know About Jordanians

I am a Jordanian, I already know that. Just kidding :) I don't know about the percentage but all are true. I think what is common is that we don't admit fault or admit that we don't know. I am not sure where this come from. There has to be a reason behind it. Not to undermine anyone's work, profession or enthusiasm but I think the use of "Entrepreneur" in people's twitter profile went a little too far.

This is interesting. I read the Arabic article from the link “Al-Ghad” you provided. In the whole four paragraphs the word "signature" is mentioned once. If someone overlooked this word by skimming or fast reading then the meaning of the article will change entirely. I do also think it was bad choice of word. That was interesting to know anyway. Welcome to the toot community :) toot, tooooooooooooooooot!

Rand, That was so beautiful. I am from Irbid as well (I like to write it with an "i" not an "e" it just looks more beautiful this way) :) I didn't grow up in Irbid but I have so much memories in this beautiful place I call HOME. Your description of Irbid is exactly how I remember it. The fact that I am known by my name couple of miles around my house makes Irbid so special. You can't find a better weather than Irbid. It is so beautiful especially in the spring. Guys wearing slippers and sometime pajama holding a plate of hummus is a classic :) Irbid can be much better if Jordan can give it a chance and include it in some of its many projects that are been exclusively built in Amman. Thanks again for writing about my hometown! Happy Eid!
Seriously, I can't pick which one is my favorite. That is absolutely hilarious. On the other hand, I don't much blame those naive applicants they never learned how to write a CV. In the US, students get tons of help on how to write CVs, cover letters, how to dress in an interview, etc. I would blame our Jordanian universities for failing in preparing their students finding a job which should be the goal of these universities. That is, educating and preparing students for the real world.
