i don't do sunday school, i can't make it to church at 9:45 when church is at 11 anymore, haha. but i do teach the 3-4 year olds in what we call Bible Zone aka where the kids go during the church service. my kids do realize there are other bible characters other than Jesus. this years batch are all, fortunately, potty trained. our curriculum isn't bad, but it doesn't fill the time properly, so i tend to be hunting for extra coloring pages/activity sheets (we do a LOT of coloring pages and matching/maze activity sheets). i expect my kids to sit and listen for 3 minutes, and apparently that's too much for them, haha.
snack time is definitely the highlight of the class. since i only teach once a month (i rotate out with the other teachers), they know that i bring fruit snacks. for a while it was veggietales fruit snacks, but i've since switched to the cheaper generic dinosaur fruit snacks.
always. use. crayons. haha
i am thankful for Rev. Cindy Adcock, Tim & Kathy Naegle, Chad Penhorwood, and Judy Embree (my youth leaders in 6-12th grades, though Cindy was in charge of the choir/performance stuff)
House of Heroes! of late i've been listening to Baby's A Red, Buckets for Bullet Wounds, Field of Daggers, and Serial Sleepers. i ♥ HoH, and i'm stoked for their new CD in just over a week!
in my church, its one person. and they're not even designated as a youth/children's pastor. She does the elementary school kids youth group, the middle school/high school choir/some of the youth group stuff, and the young adult choir, so she crosses those boundries. and she's what most people would call the "senior pastor" but we just call her a co-pastor with the other pastor in the church.
I'm kind of addicted to "Die Religion Die" by Head these days. haha. he's my choice too.
i read The Glass Menagerie my sophomore year of high school, and then ran sound when my high school performed it my senior year. So i know that play front to back at this point. Hated it when i first read it, but after our run of it, it grew on me
wow, somebody mentioned the DoC! that never happens...
i've been the friend who came on wednesday or thursday. crazy. my church didn't do VBS, but one of my good friend's church did, so each day she got to bring a different friend, and i was never at the beginning of the week.
same here :) and our pipe organ rarely has problems either. the pastors mics, on the other hand...so many issues. but we love our sound guy, so no critiques.
a couple weeks ago, i'd been out of my thyroid meds and i'd had a super long day with work and class, so i'd been caffeinating myself all day (red bull before class, monster during class, soy mocha with an extra shot of espresso) and i'm pretty sure i pushed the limits of how much caffeine a 4'11" person should consume, even one in college.
i think caffeine's ok, as long as you don't regularly push it to the excess. but an energy drink when you're exhausted, or a cup of coffee to get you going in the morning, in my opinion, isn't too bad. as long as it's not an energy drink or more every day, plus mountain dew or something.
