Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Pastors who read sermon notes from an iPad.

Jon, I am just being direct and I do it in love, really. It sounds to me like you're judging every pastor who would choose to read from an ipad. Recently I was confronted because someone saw me looking at my blackberry in church and assumed that I was texting. It is the world in which we live. We can embrace the tools we now have to spread the gospel and keep the message true to the gospel. I am sure there was the same fight over bringing a leather bound bible into the pulpit. I am sure there have been fights and still are over what the pastor wears. I understand the wearing of robes because people then are not looking at what the pastor is wearing, however today there is a race to see who can have the most flashy robe. Its all just stuff. I don't have an ipad, wish I did. When I am in church and preaching I encourage people to text their friends and let them know what we are discussing in the service and invite them to come next time. We can be early adopters and fight the critics or we can be late adopters and lose people who are in need and don't understand the political stuff we in the church have to go through just to read from an ipad vs. paper notes.
