KABOBfest : Egyptian Pop Music Takes on Israel

Greg, I am glad as a Palestinian I have you to educate me about my identity and about my beliefs. Chab Khaled is a has been, and Israelis steal Arab pop songs a lot and pay not royalties for it (read http://hotarabicmusic.blogspot.com/2011/01/israel.... If you look at those songs they call for non violence. the first one, I am not going to blow myself up, but I will liberate Palestine. Sinai is a big deal in Egyptian pop culture. Too many have died for it. I am for peace--easy to say really, but at this point we neither get peace nor war. Those are not the only singers in Arabia, but they express a real view and to a large extent a legitimate one too.

KABOBfest : And The Shithead Award Goes to.....Adel Imam

This is not the interview, this is after his insults and attacks on the protesters. If you read Arabic, go ahead and read the readers comments to understand the problem, with Adel http://www.boswtol.com/art-and-entertainment/film...

You are right, his movies stick it to the man, but that's no excuse to insult the protesters and call them names. His sucking up to the regime and Gamal is well documented. I think he was free to do what he wants on film or on theater, but in real life he would stand be the regime and the NDP. Thanks

KABOBfest : The Challenge of Feeding a Family in Gaza

1-If Egypt opens to the borders two things will happen, US and Israel will be mad at Egypt and thus cut their aid to Egypt. Second, the moment Egypt opens the door full, Israel could walk away and say, ok Egypt should help Gaza, even though they are the ones who are putting it under virtual occupation. In other words, Israel can say, look we in not in charge of Gaza, even though they are shooting anywhere that goes into the sea, and shoot anyone that works near the farm land anywhere near the borders. And do not forget the Israeli drones, that decorate Gaza's sky. Also, Egypt has a huge unemployment, so that won't help anyone.
