Watch it get struck by lightening and burn to the ground like touchdown Jesus. I might even convert if that happened. :p

Godless Business : 19 - Dick H. Noblett

Hey, thanks again for another good podcast. Few points: The reason why the 9/11 remembrances are more prominent than usual this year is because everyone's whipped up about that Muslim community center and that guy threatening to burn Korans. There's been so much attention given to this stuff that it's just been building and building. Plus it's an election year for some people in our congress, so everything is more politicized than usual. As you've probably already found out, the community center is still going up. The Muslims never backed out, that was a rumor started by the idiot Terry Jones, the guy behind the burn a Koran day. While Ray Comfort did pass out his edited version of Origins to college students, a couple local scientific foundations in the US countered them by passing out bookmarks explaining why Ray is full of shit and where the students can go to really examine the evidence for evolution and where we've come in the 150 years since Darwin. (They also did this low profile so as not to give Ray and his ilk the publicity they wanted, so score for the good guys) That Guardian article really pissed me off ( http://godlesspaladin.wordpress.com/2010/09/03/at... ) The study was obviously about how religious doctors would ignore patients' wishes and withhold treatment options because of their personal religious convictions, whereas atheist doctors valued the patient's rights and honest, but the Guardian had to twist it around to make us look like monsters... <faceplam> Lastly, I have a small personal request. <.< Would it be possible for you to kick the volume up a few decibels when you export the final audio file? When trying to listen to the podcast in the car, I have to find a weak radio station to broadcast the ipod over (ironically they're usually religious stations ~_^) and even with the car speakers cranked all the way up you're barely a whisper. I doubt I'm the only listener with that problem and I don't think it'd really effect anyone if you turned it up just a bit. I'd really appreciate it. ^_^

That's awesome! I just hope the US media is too busy talking about Hollywood to notice, or else Glenn Beck will be crying for an end to US/Australia relations. <facepalm>

Godless Business : 1.4 - The Nerd Bunker

On the point of churches needing poor conditions to prosper, thought you might find this interesting: Look at the human development index ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by... ) and then a list of countries by religiosity. ( http://www.gallup.com/poll/114211/alabamians-iran... ) There seems to be a link between prosperity and religiosity; the more religious, the shitter the country. (With the US as the odd exception) here is a pic of the 2 maps side by side: http://godlesspaladin.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/re...

This study is 5 years old, but still really interesting.I was reminded of it when you were talking about how people would pray for you friend in the hospital with her baby: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4681771.stm
