What was the general theme of thesis, if I may ask? sounds interesting!

A group of Italian guys basically did this very thing. They trimmed the LOTR movies down to about 1/1.5 hour each and overdubbed them with their parody script. It became a story where the ring actually holds the power that allows people to get high, and that power needs to be released over the world (Gandalf is of course Ganjalf, Aragorn is Arabong and so on). It's a hoot but of course most of it would be lost in translation! I also have to admit I've seen it so many times that when I watch the actual movies I tend to overlay the parodied lines over the real ones...

I am Italian and I vaguely remember Ronson & Jerome jokes on Mtv Europe (which was actually very UK-centric) from the early 90s, though honestly I would have never made the connection just by reading "Jerome Flynn". Even without that baggage... he kind of has the right look (hopefully they are going to dye his hair - I'm not happy with blonde!Theon either), but he's still too old for Bronn. Though truth be told, Eddard and Catelyn have been aged up too, so I guess this isn't totally unexpected...?

Yep, that's why I thought her remark about being typecast as "the good one" sounded suspicious :)

FWIW, I know Christopher Nolan advised his actors *against* reading the novel for "The Prestige" and stick to the screenplay (but Bale read the book anyway), and it's not the first time I hear about this kind of direction. Of course in the case of The Prestige the adaptation was more of an elaboration of the source material, while I expect GoT to follow the books in more of a literal way - just wanted to point out that it's often just a matter of working method.

Honestly? She would have made a *perfect* Catelyn - I wonder if her comment about always being cast as the "good, moral person" implies that she had been contacted for the Cat role first. But I think she can pull off Cersei just fine :)

yeah, when it is implied that she develops a drinking problem, iirc there are some lines about some of her clothes not fitting so well anymore. Though honestly I think it's the kind of weight gain that can easily be achieved with make up, it's not like she suddenly turns obese.

I agree with this comment! I'd also add that the limitations Cersei had to face have also always been clashing with the fact that she's always been told that, being a Lannister, she was entitled to be - and have - the best of everything. Like, dad promised her Rhaegar... and al she got was Robert. Many characters in ASoIaF have this "great expectations vs. harsh reality" theme going on - she's an example of how this disconnect between what you want and what you get can affect your personality.

Sounds about right! Raunchy sex scene from Rome: check. "cast in a major film with an awesome cast and a great director": check (Cronenberg's Eastern promises). Was on Eastenders: check. I think we have a winner.

Agreed on all accounts. Personally, I don't want a pedantic illustration of each single line in the books, I want a tv show with a good pacing and that keeps me waiting for the next episode even if I'm supposed to know the story already.
